Ozone w/ Skimmer

How much ozone can I safely use with the 230/2 skimmer? The skimmer is setup in the sump of a 125gal tank. I know the manual says 3mg/l of ozone, but that amount doesn't seem to make any noticable difference in a large tank. For a tank this size, shouldn't I be dozing closer to 30-50mg/l?

About 1mg/ 100l is all that is required to keep the water clear. Using more is a problem because the skimmer will stop producing (you will break down proteins rather than remove them) also, a skimmer is not an effective reactor unless it is a very large unit with slow moving bubbles but this should be a seperate skimmer from one used to actually skim. I would use about 5mg/l just to keep the water clear and thats it.

I was thinking about setting up another spare skimmer to use with the ozonizer. Maybe I'll hook it up and keep the ozone set at 5mg/l and see what happens. Currently that tank is staying fairly yellow with the ozone set at 5. I think I'll add some carbon to help make the water clear, and then remove it to see the water remains clear.
