P. chrysurus pics

I got the chance from my boss to get this fish, I couldn't pass the offer. He's been in a 55g with tap water, by himself, etc for over 2 years. My boss said it came from his larger tank but he couldn't keep the chrysurus. Anyhow, he claims it's at least 5 years old and it's a little over 6 inches. He destroyed all of the zoanthids in the aquarium and has a taste for brightly colored ones (reds, orange). I've had him for about 2 weeks now and he's doing very well. Much more active than he was in the 55g. Here are some pics:

Beautiful fish. I've always wanted one, but with three angels in my 210, I'm full. What size tank is it in now?

I don't know much about their growth, but if that fish is stunted, it sure doesn't look sick. Best of luck with it.

In a 75g temporarily. I figured it would eat my corals but I'm okay with it. I got it to accept nori on a clip now and it's also eating some clam and squid. All it ate prior to that was aquadine pellets, nothing else. The tank it came from was simple; a hangon back filter and tapwater. I think it's actually less than 6 inches but hopefully it'll grow more now that I'm feeding it 3+ times a day

I'm building the stand for the 150g now, I guess the way I see it is it's a holding tank until the 150g is ready to go. Tank has been running for almost 2 years now. Hopefully I don't get flamed

I'd hope you don't get flamed! :) The 75 is an improvement over a 55, and if the fish is 6" or under, it has plenty of room for now. Looks like a nice, healthy tank. Personally, I'd want to put it in a bigger tank eventually, but you just gave it a lot more space, water quality and diet, and have a bigger tank coming along.

Is that the juvenile coloration? I didn't realize some angelfish could retain juvenile coloration for so long.

Yep they stay very much like taht just get a blue face mask and the stripes get shorter on the body but other than that they still look very much like juvis as adults

I think that fish is awesome. I have always loved the chrysurus angel but am going to have to forgo getting one until I can get a proper tank for one. For now I will be content with my african pygmy angel.

here are some more pics. I think it lost some weight because it has to swim against the powerheads now (2xMP40W, 1xMP10). It didn't have any flow in the previous tank. It begs for food as soon as it sees i'm awake in the mornings

I believe that this is near adult coloring. When there juvenilles they look similar to emperor angels.
