P. imperator hybrid

Motivation to start a FIsh Only tank again.....

Cause there is not doubt that all those crosses are going to be Reef Devouring machines :)

Great information Ted and Great photos. (Thanks)

Get all 5 and then take bets on which ones will eat which corals :D

so, look at what Lemon just posted..

captive spawned and raised.....

P. annularis x P. imperator!!! :bounce3::bounce2::bounce3:I am drooling!!

More to come.....

check out my build thread for more baby pics....not of the above fish!!

btw, there may be something else in play with the above fish...I think some may believe one of the broodstock is a hybrid!

Wen is remarkable...

So is that photo(annularis / Imperator) just 1 of a whole tank of them Wen is raising?

I wonder where the Imperator is from... Red Sea or Xmas Islands could make this even better.

matthew p pointed out that the "patterning on the mid flanks doesn't seem to be consistent with how emps transition."

def a hybrid ...

check out Lemon's write-up on the ann x imp hybrids on that reef website....
just great stuff...

Yup, read it, very cool info.

But, one "dubious" account of this type of hybrid? That doesn't spell obvious photo of an adult to me...

Seems there is a lone captive bred imp x annularis that has come to light.

Just read the article. Was devastated to get to the end. Earlier today I sent a message to Vincent curious as to how many of these there were. Sadly reading the article I now know.

Can't wait to see a photo of that baby in another 9-12 months.

Peter...

Lemon Tyk -Julian Sprung anyway just for kicks, what do you think this is?

Lemon Tyk- it's interesting to note that P. imperator turns purple in its face when breeding. i've heard about it in books but never seen it, until i saw the photos taken by Su. it's incredible.

Julian Sprung- Yeah I've seen that one. Assumed it was imp x semicircularis

Lemon Tyk -i agree on imp x semi. i can't find the imp x annularis video anymore. but it was a huge specimen in a taiwanese FOWLR tank.

Julian Sprung- wait, are you saying that there is a record of a wild caught imp x annularis? I've never seen one. My photo is faked.

Lemon Tyk- yes. that was the only one i've ever seen. it's very distinctively annularis because of the earspot and the high body profile, but also distinctively imperator because imperator leaves very strong characteristics in its hybrids. i'll try again to see if i had taken a screenshot of the video or ripped it.

btw, let's hope that one or two of the hybrids were sold as annularis and are out there...
Several weeks ago, I recall wen asking people who bought his annularis if they noticed any strange markigs on their fish, I now understand why...hopefully someone is going to luck out hugely!
