Anyone else running these? If not, you should :D

There plug and play if you already have 3/4 Lockline or MPT returns and they really increase your flow. I wanted to post some before and after video but I forgot my camera at work and couldn't wait to hook them up. It would be a PITA to switch them out and readjust everything now but trust me they kick a$$

I actually purchased Penductors first but it was going to take a bit of modding on my system to make them work so I got these.

If anyone wants the Penductors I have two - $25 a piece or offer me some nice frags in trade.

How much water are pushing thru them from the pump?

Good question, I'm not quite sure. I'm running a Velocity T-4 which is rated at 1275 g/h @ 0 feet. However it feeds 2 returns in my main tank, 1 in my frag tank, chiller, and phosban reactor. Plus, I have alot of twists and turns in my plumbing as you can imagine.

Because I'm not using a pressure rated pump plus the head loss from all the stuff mentioned I'm probably not getting the advertised %400 increase in flow. However, its at least double

they create a suction because the back of it is open and it sucks in the extra water and it gets pushed out.

I apologize but it should be spelled "eductor", should help you search for info better but here's the short answer:

"Water jet eductors utilize the kinetic energy of one liquid to cause the flow of another. Eductors consist of a converging nozzle, a body and a diffuser and resemble syphons in appearance. In operation, the pressure energy of the motive liquid is converted to velocity energy by the converging nozzle. The high velocity liquid flow then entrains the suction liquid. Complete mixing of the motive and suction is performed in the body and diffuser section. The mixture of liquids is then converted back to an intermediate pressure after passing through the diffuser."

Wow, Good explanation there professor! :) I'm considering about 4 of these for my tank. Thanks Nick.

I must admit I cheated a bit ;) ; pulled it from some mixing tank website

I have two of these on my closed loop and they seem to work great for the price. I'll be buying more soon to replace the diy ones I made.

Hard to see in this picture. They are on the two CL outlets in the front part of the tank. Tank is a 4x2x2 120

How diffused is the flow?

About the same as without, maybe a little better. That's the catch with these things they are by no means meant to replace a tunze per say but if you want stronger flow out of a pump you already have they work great.

Also, I've had to crank mine down quite a bit. I think I got a little overzealous :) My RBTA has not been happy will the massive flow. Also, I caused my orange digitata to bleach, one of the returns was pointed almost directly at it, even though its about 16" away. It takes a bit of playing around with the intensity and the direction you have them pointing to make everything happy :)

Once everything recovers I'm going to slowly ramp them back up.

how would these work on my two .75" loc line returns hooked to a mag 9.5 return pump with about 5 feet of head?

I have no idea :) For max benefit your supposed to use them with a pressure rated pump due to the back pressure they create. However, they will create increased flow with almost any pump, pressure rated or not. I say give them a shot and find out, they're pretty cheap.
