Painful Experience

Just thought I'd share with you folks, so I set up my new 90G tank over the weekend and of course I get home last night and not at all happy with aquascaping so I start redoing it. Needless to say it takes about 4 hours to get to where I'm moderately happy with it, as you guys know aquascaping with gloves doesn't really work so I purposely did not wear mine, so after finishing I wash my hands and arms, have a beer to celebrate moderate success and go to bed. About 2 hours later I wake up to a throvingly painfull index finger it felt as if I'd gotten hit with a sledge hammer, I tried going back to sleep but the pain was too much... Anyway to make a long story short it's 24 hours later and although the swelling is gone and it's gotten 95% better the very tip of my finger and finger nail still hurt....
MORAL OF THE STORY..............WEAR YOUR GLOVES..

I am a aqauscaping freak. I am never happy with mine. The painful experience that I have is that I always ware my fingers out!! they peel and hurt like S#!T the next day. Part of reefing!!

Was it a Bristle"Fire" worm? Those sucka's hurt like a MOFO when I messed with them.
I always where gloves when I handle acro's, they tear up my hand like crazy!

Thanks all, my finger is still tender at the tip and my nail still hurts but getting better.
Anyway I really don't know what it was as it didn't start hurting till a few hours later, but from talking to a few others it seems like it was probably a bristle worm. My biggest concern was that somehow i may have squashed a zoanthid and the juice had penetrated the skin (I've read some horror stories involving zoa's) but I don't have any of the streaking on the finger and it didn't get worse. Anyway live and learn......

zoanthids are really unlikely, the hysteria surrounding people getting sick from them cracks me up every time...

you may have hit some hydroids though, I got tagged by those a few times and they burn like you wouldn't believe! could be a bristleworm too though, those things have the longest effects, there's times where my fingers hurt for 2-3 days afterwards, ew...

i've been doing this for years and never had any issues. looks like i should get some gloves because its just a matter of time. I'm scared to put my hand in after hearing this!!

and the beer is always flowing!!
