Paint - diy wood stand

I'm in the middle of a build and can't seem to get help from home depot, I know there are interior paints that are safe enough to breath around but they can't with recommend one per policy that won't harm a child or small pet if exposed to it. So my question is what is the best white paint at home Depot I can use to paint my wood frame in doors, must be water proof or very resistant there won't be openings in the stand even the back due to the Peninsula build. Any help is appreciated.

I'm also looking for a nice gray almost black.

Latex paint is compatible with wood? Does it damage easy or off gas chamicals while drying? I plan on doing 2 or 3 coats inside and 5 to 7 on the exterior of the stand

They have a line of low VOC paints, ask them, I think they label it pro series or something like that.
Most latex should be fine, but occasionally I do have clients that request the low VOC.
They may call it a no VOC and some companies do call their paints that, yet a rep once told me once they add color it is no longer 0 VOC, but low.

I'm a painter. If your painting wood use an undercoat or sealer then a door gloss or a satin of your choice in colour. They should be labelled outdoor for waterproof version. It will smell quite potent for half a day and then will be fine.

Alright thank you, just to clarify. Lumber sealer then paint on top?

I like Kilz 2 primer, and agree I'm not fond of the all in one paints, or at least I don't rely on them w/out a good primer for anything that takes any real sort of abuse like what we do to our stands.
