Paint / Film / Leave alone

if im not mistaken i think tonycip put some window tint on the back of his, if given the oppartunity i would do that.

i was very cheap. i cut a black 30 gallon trash bag down both side seams and taped it down tightly. prest magico. total cost less than .50$ and 1/2 hour of time.

Personally, I like the look of the black background, it really makes the colors "pop."

On the other hand, there are quite a few articles out there about NOT putting ANY kind of background on the tank due to the reflective properties of things... Your lights actually get more penetration WITHOUT a background on the tank...

If I have some time later, I'll find a couple articles for ya... Research it some if you have time...

I am currently running no background. However... Even with the stuff said about the natural reflective properties of glass, I will most likely be painting my 90g before I set it up.... And BLACK.

Ok, i'm the rebel, i chose to paint the wall behind it and leave the glass clear and clean. I like it because if i need to see what or who is behind the rocks i can. If it was an in-wall i would go with removable panels of the color i liked. Also would allow you to change at will and to see in if needed. They could be acrylic panels painted any color you like. Ha great idea. I think I will do this with my 75.

I attached a piece of black 1/8" thick acrylic sheet on the back of mine. Just between the two mega flows. I can remove it easily if needed.

I used some navy blue "wavy" material I found at WalMart. I used the industrial velcro to hold it on so I can remove it to see behind the scenes if needed.

Here are a couple pics:

Best of both worlds IMO.

I keep mine clean/clear to allow visual thru back from fish room behind tank. If company comes over I put on a blue background to block sight into rear fishroom.
