Para Guard by seachem

I have aprox 285g of water running thru the system and I noticed the fins on my sailfin and yellow are looking like theyre all beat up. rotting kinda. I suspect fin rot and was going to dose 100ml (a full small bottle) of paraguard by seachem. do you guys think its ok to pour it in my return chamber of the sump and let it run through? will it affect corals or inverts? Mixed reef but lots of sps so.....

I'd pull him and treat in a hospital tank.

I've been treating ParaGuard everyday for weeks on new additions. You need to run it continually until the fish looks better.

Melafix might be a good option for a reef tank... but still better to just treat the fish, not the system.

Might want to look at Melafix Marine then.

I've used it before in the display for some fish with fin damage, seemed to work fine.

Do some research and also maybe try a lower dosage at first.

almost impossible to get him in my tank. 220 display full of sps.

Fish him out with a little salmon egg hook for trout fishing. Crimp the barb with a pliers and bait it with a sliver of shrimp. I've fished tangs and clownfish out of tanks several times using this method.

The other option is a fish trap with a mirror on the back side. Toss some food in in and he will see himself in the mirror and go right in before you know it. I've used this method as well and it works like a charm.

I have used para guard on my DT several times at half the recommended dose without negative affects. When i full dosed is when i lost a clam and the soft corals didnt seem too like it much. Problem with paraguard is you will have to dose everyday for a few weeks for the med to work or do a couple of baths.

Yeah I'm kind of loving this stuff :)

Been dosing three QT tanks everyday for almost 4 weeks now.

Every now and then I'll forget and it'll be an hour or two late.

Seems pretty easy on the fish.

Not too expensive if you order 2L or larger bottles either.
