ParanoidObseshun's 27g Cube

I am soon going to be moving down to the Drums area so I decided to build a new tank instead of tanking along my 20L. After looking around I finally settled on a 27g Cube. I am going with another AIO idea since I dont want to drill the tank and have a sump and all that. Dont think the girlfriend would appreciate the extra space, noise, etc etc..

Tank is setup in the apartment just need to hook up the return pump, which will be connected to a hydor flo in the left back corner, and then there will be a 300gph powerhead in the right back corner hooked up to another hydor flo. I might be putting a koralia nano underneath the overflow and have it aimed at the front, but that also depends on what the rockwork looks like.

Everything from the 20L will be getting transferred over to this tank. Maybe some time next week.

Here is the tank as it sits now.

Looking good,I liked the 20 long setup too,but look forward to seeing this one stocked.Gd luck and keep postin picks

Thanks guys.

I am hoping to transfer all my stuff from the 20L over to this tank either tomorrow night or thursday morning. Packing everything up in buckets and large rubbermaid containers for the 60 mile trek to the apartment.

I know I need to crack a rock or two in half because of their size so they can fit in the tank better. Hoping for things to go smooth.

Well I got the tank transferred today. Forgot how much of a pain it was to do this. Had a couple hiccups here and there but nothing too serious. Couple spills from feeder tubes that came out of the tank and then the back siphon of the same feeder tube. I didnt realize the rockwork would be so tricky to do. I tried to go for something different beside the large gradual down slope of rock. I tried to go with a U shape as best as I could with the rock I had. Pictures will come tomorrow as the corals were still closed and the tank water was still cloudy. Tomorrows job will be to pick permanent spots for the corals and get them secured to the rock. I might have to do something about the flow in the tank, I thought 2 hydor pico mag 300gph pumps would work but it seems like there isnt enough flow at the moment.

I like the LED light already. With just the white channel on all the colors of the corals look a lot better than they did with my T5 setup.

Went out yesterday to see if any stores had the koralia nano. I stopped at petzone because I know they atleast have equipment. They had the koralia but wanted $40 for it so I'm still going to look around more. Maybe buy it online if no one has a used one to sell.

I actually ended up leaving petzone with a frag. Didn't think I would ever do that but this piece was actually worth the price that was on it. Will have pictures of it soon.

I might have a koralia nano. I forgot I have a koralia in the basement circulating with another pump in a brute with live rock for my 210. I saw it today but didn't check the model. I don't remember what zoas I gave you, but I had red hornets, valentines day massacres, and strawberry wines melt on me so if I gave you any of those, I would take a frag in trade.

You gave me a frag of the hornets and the strawberry wines. They both did great but after about 3 months they started to melt like a lot of my other zoas. I think I only have 4 zoa/palys left at all. Rpe, Nuke greens, purple deaths, and La Lakers. I do have several different color morphs of merlettis.

Here is the frag I picked up from Petzone. Not a great picture as it is hard to capture the colors. The bumps on the skirts are green/white while the centers are kind of pinkish/orangish. Maybe the colors will develop better in a few weeks.

Surprised to find it there.

The cube is doing good so far. I still have yet to secure any of the corals down or find permanent spots for most of them. All of the corals seem to be acclimating nicely to the new light fixture though. Both of my war corals have developed deeper coloring and the blues in them are really starting to pop.

There was a hitchhiker Montipora on a blasto colony I received in the past. In my old tank the coral turned brown and didnt really polyp out, but since being under the new lights both the base and the polyps are starting to get their color back. Colony is sitting on the sandbed so it gives me hope for some other sps.

I went out and picked up some sps frags the other day to test this light out. It is bringing the one hitchhiker monti back, but want to see if it can keep some other sps happy and colorful.

Kind of hoping these frags do good. Would be nice to have some sps in the tank for a change.

These pictures were taken 5 minutes after putting them in the tank.
