Part of brain frag dying

I got a brain frag a few days ago. It's only like 2" and one side of it is turning brown and the tissue is falling off. I'm pretty sure it's just from shipping. It was in a hot truck (in FL) for 10 hours before it got to my house. Yeah UPS sucks. Anyway I was wondering if I should break off the part that is dying or leave it be? I don't want the dying part to spread or anything. I know with sps's RTN you're supposed to frag the healthy part and didn't know if you're supposed to do the same with LPS's. My hermits have been picking at the dead parts. Should I let them keep on cleaning it or will this irritate it too much? I've had the coral for 4 days now and today was the first day I noticed it dying.

Salinity: 1.0255
pH:8.4
Alk: 5.5 meq/l (I'm trying to lower it)
Ammonia, nitrites, nitrates: 0
Phos: 0

think it might be brown jelly. Not sure what the protocol would be, but I think you should probably frag the part off and get rid of the infected part and then dip the hell out of it. Might want to be safe and dip your other corals too.

yes, try to get a picture. I can't tell you what to dip it in seeing as I've never had to medicate any of my corals, but I think lugols will work. Other people who have more experience will have to chime in though. But if it is brown jelly, you have to frag it off beyond the border of the brown jelly and into the healthy tissue. If you don't it will just continue to spread. And do this outside the tank because it is possible to spread to your other corals I believe.

These aren't the best. Sorry.

I suctioned off as much of the brown stuff as I could with a turkey baster. It's in an area of high flow (read that that's good). I don't have any iodine to dip it in or anything to frag it with. I'll go and buy iodine tomorrow. What should I use to break it with?
