Pastey's 200DD

I really wanted to keep rock down to a minimum in the DT. I've got some live rock in my current tank that I'll transfer over but, eventually, that'll either be removed and used in a separate build or put in the sump. I want to utilize a higher turnover and aggressive skimming.

I love that tank, can't wait to see it with the rock and full of water to appreciate the depth!!

Beautiful set up you have. Those are some gorgeous rocks you got your hands on too, nice and big but not too heavy looking. Can't wait to see it set up!

The tank, in general, will be very light in the rock dept. Those 2 are ~ 27lbs. When I add another, larger rock, I'll likely have a total of 40-50lbs. which puts me far below the 1lb/gallon "rule of thumb". I'll be stashing some 2.5 year old live rock in my refugium along with some chaeto but it won't be a massive amount. I imagine, when it's all said and done, I might have 60-75lbs. of rock in this system. Obviously, I'll be relying heavily on higher flow and mechanical filtration instead of biological.

Ignore the dirty tank. It's getting a solid cleaning Saturday before coming in the house. Just wanted to give an idea of size in tank.

Went ahead and ordered the Advanced Leak Detection module and 2 probes to be delivered by Friday. After setup, I'll be watching the tank/sump like a hawk for leaks but I won't be home on Monday in case something goes wrong. I thought about getting a decent leak detector/alarm from Home Depot but it won't do me any good if I'm not home to hear it. I had planned on getting it anyway but I'll rest easier knowing the return pump will be off and I'll be notified immediately. The house is less than a year old...I REALLY don't need new flooring yet.

Those rocks are sweet! You should drill some holes in them for some sps frags. Awesome build so far. I love those dimensions.

I've contacted Aquatecture about drilling it already. I wasn't sure what type of bit to use or whether or not drilling was even safe on that material. I don't want it to break when a drill bit bites into the ceramic. Never drilled this type of material before. Thanks for the kind words...I can't wait for Saturday to get here so we can get this thing in the house and fill it up.

Received my MP40 power supply replacement from Premium Aquatics yesterday so now I have two fully functional MP40s.

Spent the afternoon getting my Netgear wireless adapter set up on the home network with the Apex so that I can access it wirelessly. I set my email alerts up and got that rolling as well. I'll have to do some more tweaking to the alarm/alert when I add the leak detector module but I didn't want to spend half of my weekend screwing with gateways and IP addresses. My dumb self tried to run a firmware update (which wasn't even needed) wirelessly. Halfway through, it lost communication and froze. Stopping the update and resetting the Apex turned into a 2 hour ordeal of getting my computer to connect with the Apex so I could re-load the firmware back on. Luckily, I didn't lose any of my settings so there's always that? I've always learned more by screwing up than by getting it perfect the first time

Ordered 6ft. of some wire ducting but I won't have it until Monday.

Ran the RO/DI yesterday so I have as much on hand as possible to get the tank filled quickly tomorrow. I can make/store ~140 gallons and I have about 80 on hand now so I'll be running it this afternoon/tonight to get the rest and once we make room in the barrels, I'll just start it back up until we get however much we need to finish filling up the tank. I'm guesstimating total volume to be about 230ish.

I am happy to report the tank and stand are in the house without any hitches. I currently have sand (~220lbs) of the Fiji-pink and the Aquatecture rock in there. I've been filling the tank with RO/DI pretty much all day and it has been running since this morning. I started with about 100 gallons and I estimate that ill need about 230 gallons to fill the tank and sump. Once it's full and turning water over without any leaks, ill throw the salt. Still need to transfer the Apex from my 28 to the this tank as well as install the leak detection module/sensors and get that set up in the settings. Still have to fill and setup the Tunze top off as well. Got the MP40s up and running. No lights in the canopy as Ill be putting in new lights when I can talk myself into spending the money.

Anyway, here is the important stuff (pictures)

The DT is still not completely full and I haven't begun filling the sump yet so there is still a ways to go.

Quick question. How often do you use your fireplace? I believe if you turn it on your ph on your tank is going to drop because of the oxygen getting sucked out of the air in that room. For the fireplace.

Other than that everything looks great. Can't wait to see it running.

It's Louisiana so we don't use the fireplace much at all. There are really only about 2-3 months were it's even viable to use it and even then, we only use it for small periods of time. Not to mention, that "room" is the living room, kitchen and dining room all together. I don't know the oxygen absorption rate of a room with 11,000 cu. ft. of volume so if someone could educate me on what to expect, that would great. I'd be very interested to know what effects it will have on the tank.

My tank is in a 220 sf room and when we are out of power we have to use the fireplace in that room. It's gas so i'm not sure the difference, but it's never hurt anything yet....

I'm not real sure, but it's a good thing to think about.

I think the sq. footage of the room is ~800 sq. feet. (it's a very open floor plan house so the house isn't huge) xD
