PaulytheReefer - Rimless Starfire Build Thread

Just be careful, some of the flatworms are in the rocks and may just grab a hold of your corals again.

It is good that you know the cause though. If you do end up adding flatworm exit or something of that sort, be VERY careful, and do many water changes right away. I have heard too many stories about flatworm exit destroying tanks.

Goodluck!

I bought the FW exit and could just never bring myself to use it. I added a bunch of wrasses, I have 5 now. I also added 2 blue nudis which I haven't seen since the first night. The 6 line and radiant are always fat and on the hunt. I pulled all my sps and dipped them a couple times over a couple week period and eventually no worms or eggs were present. I lost a couple really nice colonies but I am thankful I didnt lose them all. Lately I have made a practice of blasting the sps colonies with a turkey baster to see if anything blows off. They've been clean for weeks and some of the damaged tissue is covering over with new growth and my colors are starting to come back. My tank has survived the dreaded AEFW's! Whoohoo!:bounce3:

congrats!

i love to see people using the "natural" way to clean up unwanted pests

Thanks. If you read my whole thread it would make more sense, I'm not assuming you haven't. I had ich, qted them, they all died. Next time I had ich I had cleaner wrasse and shrimp in the tank, no casualties and the ich went away. I am very, I mean very hesitant to add the quick fix to the tank, however I have revamped my dipping process on the way into the tank. I will be dipping all of my corals in a revive dip on the way in and the fish will get a freshwater dip. I wont put my corals in jeopardy of being eaten again. I was sick to my stomach watching 4 year old colonies slowly being eaten.

My colors are coming back

Well I made a big change in my reef, I sold my metal halide setup and bought a 8 bulb Tek Light Elite. So far I love it. Some of my colonies have changed colors some for the better and others for the worst. I think this summer will be the real test, I'm excited to see if the temps stay more consistant in the tank and the room that its in.
