PaulytheReefer - Rimless Starfire Build Thread

I still haven't caught the last of the fish in my tank. But the others are in the QT at 1.015 salinity. I'm going to try and get it down to 1.010 tomorrow, all of the fish seem to be taking it well. They are eating and swimming around normally. Anyone have any suggestions on catching a shrimp goby?

Well I've been busy fighting ich, all of my fish but one are in the QT and are all looking much better. I was really worried that I would lose the wrasse, he looked like a pineapple for a while but has made a great turn for the better. Oh and I have trained most of my chalices to feed at night. I have started feeding them twice a week after the lights are out and most of them put out feeder tenticles shortly after the lights go out. The bubble gum monster has really taken off since I started this. It went from 1 eye to 4 in a matter of weeks. I just fragged this coral for a local reefer, but it is growing like crazy. Here is the Emerald Mummy Eye that I fragged tonight.

Wow! How did you do that? Your picture actually is a better representation of the coral. Its an Emerald Mummy Eye.

I have recently taken the calcium reactor off and started 2 part dosing until I find a new reactor that fits under the stand. I'm thinking the GEO 612.

I have also added a reef fanatic ATO, great investment so far. Less back breaking bucket carrying and I have kalk in the ATO water to help keep the PH up. It was really easy to install and so far is working perfectly.

That was my goal, of course. :) I replied to your PM, via email. Your PM box was full.

No more calcium reactor for me. I have gone back to 2 part dosing, and my corals are loving it. When my SPS grow out and I have to dose too much then I think I might go back to a reactor.

I'm down to the blue jaw in the QT tank, all my other fish died. I think I had the ick under control but they got secondary infections that killed them. I hope the trigger pulls through, I'm starting to think that I can grow any coral, but just can't keep fish alive???

The trigger passed away. I dont understand why I lost all of the fish in the QT tank but the ones couldn't catch and stayed in the display didn't die or show signs of ick.

So at this point I am lead to belive that I would of been better off leaving all of the fish in the main tank. The only fish that lived is the one that I couldnt catch. Is there an arguement that keeping the fish in the main tank and feeding them vitamin infussed food is as good as QTing them and treating them for ick?

Your thread is getting no love from the RC members! Thanks for the video, everything is looking really good with nice wave action.

What lighting are you using, only 20,000K?

Funny you say that, I noticed no love too. My excuss of "well everyone must be on summer vacation" is getting old. I am running 250 watt de phoenix metal halides and 2 54 watt Geissman pure actinics. I really like the Vortechs, money well spent in my opinion.

Thanks. I got them recently from a local reefer who was breaking down a tank.
