how well do zoas do under powercompact lighting

IME they'll live under it. Many will not be happy anywhere below half way up. I think zoas in general like a concentrated light source like halides better than flourescents. this just my opinion.

I have had a lot of success with PC and zoos but my tanks have not been taller than 12 in. either. The growth was okay as were the colors. I moved to halides and i couldn't believe the difference in both growth and color.
Zoos will survive with PCs but if you have a deep tank you may not want to go the PC route. if you already have PCs thats fine just make sure your zoos look happy and get enough light.

i have all of mine under PC's and they do fine but i make sure they are pretty close to the light. they have grown very well and the color is very vibrant. i also agree they do better under MH lighting.

Zoa's will be fine with PC's. As long as you have enough light (say 5 W/gal), they will thrive.
