Peacock Ate Lionfish!

My friend added a Lionfish to his Mantis tank, and the Lion and Mantis got along for the first 4 days.

The 7" peacock mantis (just 5 minutes ago) launched out of his burrow and killed the Lion as he was swimming low in the tank.

We thought the Mantis would avoid the Lion due to the venomous spines, but I guess not. The mantis is currently dining on the fish in his den.

My question is...will the Matis die from eating the Lionfish? Will the venom harm the Mantis, or are these guys more resiliant than that?

any description of the kill? Did he blugeon the fish to death? Or just use his smaller sharp arms (sorry for being so technical)

Not likely that the venom will do any harm. It will be digested.

I've reported here before that we have O. scyllarus that eat blue-rings with no difficulty.

Well, from what Im told the fish wasnt eating for the first 4 days, and started acting lethargic. We tried mysis, squid, krill, and live brine. Nothing seemed to work.

He was just attacked real quick, and dragged into the den where he was consumed...maybe alive lol

Maybe he should send his Mantis out with divers in the atlantic and to help remove the Lion Fish problem.
