Peacock Paradise Buildup!

looks like a mantis playground to me, i was looking at the hole placement for the return pump. i would be concerned, that is really low and if your return pump shuts off it is going to dump a lot of water down into the sump. just make sure your sump can handle the extra water in case of a power failure.

No worries as the sump is huge. I already tested it for a power outage  . I will definitely put it higher next time though. That's how this hobby is, live and learn!

It looks bloody sweet :)

Thanks mantis, your encouraging words have helped through this whole build. On another note I asked my lfs about ordering a peacock and he said that it's damn near impossible for them to get an exact species. Ill be looking around other places as well.

Glad to hear :) and your posting this thread has helped me in return. I been hesitant to drill a hole in any tank. After seeing the pictures and you getting it from Glass-Holes. Finally got me to order from there and try it my self, which, i had successfully drilled a hole! So, thanks much! :) I'd say order from Liveaquaria.com in the Diver's Den. I'm seeing them popping up more often. or try ThatFishPlace.com...other wise i would have said get it from Billy but as sad it is Stomatopods.com is gone...as far was we can tell. :(

I tell everyone drilling is SO easy, don't be afraid! It just takes a lot of time and patience and a good drill with the right settings doesn't hurt. Anyways I checked out thatfishplace and all they currently offer right now is "
various sp. "Mantis Shrimp"" which isn't assuring at all. I am on the LA mailing list so hopefully something will pop up soon :spin3:

So I called thatfishplace today and they said they have two mantis in stock. The guy described them as "brown with green spots", not sure what to make of that. I know I should wait, Im just itching to get a mantis.

Ask if they can take a few pictures of them and see if you can id them. Can't hurt to ask.

FWIW, a friend of a friend was heading to TFP today, I had her check out the mantises in stock. Apaprently they only now have one left, and she said she's pretty sure its not a peacock. I have a really poor cell phone pic, but it kind of just looks like a turd under a rock, not really good enough quality to make an ID.

Thanks sploke, I'm just gonna wait till I can find one that I know is 100% a peacock
