Peacock question

Got two new mantis shrimp.......a ciliata and a peacock. The ciliata is out all the time in his little 12 gallon tank, and very personable. The peacock is still hiding in the shadows. I've yet to even see his coloring! How long does it take for them to get their confidence built up and come out of hiding? I got them both on Tuesday. The peacock is in a 29 gallon tank with LR and a PVC burrow he has yet to find.......they have both eaten a piece of silverside taken from a feeding stick.

Thanks,
Janey

I would give it at least a week to "move in". Each individual, in each species, has it's own personality.

It took my Peacock about 2 weeks to really get to where she would come out. She still isn't out all the time (I have had her for just over a month), but she generally does come out of her burrow whenever I come near the tank.

Mine went in to the PVC burrow and spent some time in it last night. Hopefully she/he will like the new home and take up residence there. She is a bit more confident now so am hopeful it will be more interactive in a week or two:)

Thanks for the replies:)

mine took about a week or two as well, but lucky for me as soon as he started getting used to the tank he molted and i barely saw him for another 3 weeks or so. but now he's out all the time, it's worth the patience.

I think he's coming along pretty good. I seem to see him a bit more each day. Still not out in full view but peeking more of his body out now........makes me wonder what kind of set up they are in before they are shipped to us.......hopefully my 29 gallon seems like "heaven" to him:)
