That is a really nice piece. I have seen very small (2") frag of something similar 'on sale' for $250 so I can't imagine the price for that piece. If it was $300 I would snag it - incredible colors.
I wouldn't pay any more than $100 for that. Any more would just be rediculous IMO. I'm not too familiar with this type of coral, but it looks as if fragging would be a piece of cake. If that's the case, the market will be saturated in no time. Save your money.
Pectinia in that coloration is not easy to find. There is a lot of bland pectinia that is one drab grey/green with perhaps a small faded yellow spot on it - the brightness and variation in color is what separates this from others that are available. cloak - pectinia is not an easy coral to find on the market today so I don't believe there will be a saturation any time soon. IMO.
maceface - in the end the price is really determined by what you are willing to pay for a coral. If you have looked and not found anything like it and your search has been over a matter of months you might be willing to pay more for it - because you finally found what you have been searching for. That in mind - I have seen tiny frags of coral for $900 or $600 and I personally wouldn't pay that for a full colony. Price is determined by so many factors and what someone else would pay should not guide what you should pay. Set your price in you mind and don't go over it. Just my thoughts on this.
By the way - I have been looking for Pectinia and have not been as fortunate as you to find a piece like that. The rare few I have seen available are very drab and not special in either color or form.
Its just my opinion but any coral over $150 I wont pay for, you can find just as colorful and nice corals cheaper. The only way i would pay over 150 is for a scoly or a amazing deal
Well, ill be picking the coral up here in a few hours at LAX, straight off a plane from Indonesia ..lucky to have a wholesaler contact was able to get me one of these super rare corals...
Ill post some pics later tonight once I get it in my tank

LFS has a similar one about the size of my hand for $200. I always thought that it seemed a little steep, but maybe now I'll head over there and buy it! lol
