I took the day off to receive my 9-12" PURPLE LTA that I ordered from aquacon today. I thought I would share a few pictures after drip acclimation completed and placed him in the tank.

Let me know if you see any problems....... *insert sarcasm*

A search for Aquacon reviews would have quickly told you to steer clear. Anyway, how does the nem look health wise? Mouth and foot in good shape?

The anem was pushing out it's stomach from shipment but I've seen that plenty of times and it retracted fairly quickly once I started acclimation. The anem foot is a very light pink / white. It was not sticky however it looks to have made an attempt to bury its foot over the past 2 hours. (I may just want this to be happening, I will confirm in a few more hours) It also appears to have expelled its zooxanthellae and being as slow as their metabolism is, I feel like there were signs prior to shipment. Tentacles are clear/white/teal

Warranty response for my 7" green LTA:

Send pictures to warranty claims

No one is here today who can help you. We will call you tomorrow.
-Tomorrow is a holiday. I took work off today, can we resolve this today?
I'm sure some time on Monday someone will call you then.

I still have hopes for monday... :(

Well aside from the fact that it isn't purple... And aside from the fact that it isn't 9-12"... It IS an LTA :)

Did you use PayPal? I hate to say it, but based on past experience (mine and others'), I would start getting ready to dispute the charge. Aquacon lives up to the last part of its name--it's notorious for ripping people off. But it must pay a hefty fee to Google, because it's one of the first sites to come up on searches.

As much as how many people get con'ed by this place, I still don't know how an establishment like this can still stay in business. The anemone is clearly not a purple or the size that you've ordered. Good luck with your claim. Aquacon strikes again....

The mouth is gaping like it was when it arrived. Still no color. The foot hasn't moved despite hoping it was burying itself. AquaCON responded and said they knowingly did not ship me a purple anemone and instead shipped a "rare blue LTA". I'm not aware of any blue LTA that exist in nature and I have only seen dyed blue LTA from shady pics on the net. Sounds like par for the course. Wish I had thought to research them on the net. Well they claim they will return 50$ of the 190$ I spent on this dead anemone of the wrong color. Maybe I'll make a detour from my lauderdale trip coming up and let them know how I feel about that. Looks like I will be calling visa tonight.

"Blue LTAs" are not rare, or natural. And even if they were its not what you ordered. You deserve a full refund based on that alone. Good luck.

The "blue" color is very common in LTA's. I happens when brown/green LTAs become bleached. If they get their zooxanthellae back they become brown/green again.
I would understand the size difference. The anemone is going to expel a lot of water during the shipping, etc. and would naturally be smaller for a while, but shipping a common LTA instead of a purple one is flat out stealing your money. They knowingly sent you (at the very most) a $80 anemone instead of the $190 anemone that you paid for.

I keep seeing these same LTA's, semi bleached w/ blue/green.
Not once have I seen one gain health or maintain anything close to the color you bought it as.
The closest I have seen, and only once so far, was what was called a blue LTA, but it was more dark grey than blue, not bad looking, but not blue.
I don't know how this place is still in business for all the negative feedback I've seen, and agree, if you ordered purple, that's what you should have received.

Oh, and BTW, I got one of these blue's years ago(labeled phantom LTA) and mine didn't survive, and I've been keeping LTA,s for many years.
I've been watching for these ever since here on the boards, so far zip on survival/recovery.

Yeah, it's dead. Pitching it today after work before it starts to decomp. Took down the barrier that has been taunting the female clown so they can live it up for one day while I'm at work.

The owner of my LFS is ordering a few Purple LTAs to take my pick. Smaller than 9-12" but I suppose they handle shipping better. I won't have to pay $140 after $50 rebate for a dead one either :headwallblue:

I'm in the Chicago area. I'll have to wait until next week to see what the owner brings in. But if you happen to snap a few pictures I wouldn't mind having plan B in the works.

the lfs i go to is in NJ that would be a small drive but i could see if he would ship items.. i've gone to him for four years now and we've developed quite a friendship

Who do you use if you don't mind saying? I'm close to you and looking around at LFS's

I've gone to Reefs 2 Reptiles for 3 years now Greg the owner is more about helping the community than filling his pockets.. he changed the name to ultimate reefs now they're located on highway 35 in ocean.. he'll special order for you as well. another cool thing is he'll trade corals/fish if you've been sold animals that arent compatible or if they've outgrown the tank.

sure they're are some prettier stores in NJ but when it comes to customer service he cant be beat
tell him i sent you
