Cheng, They have Thermal tape now to mount your LED's with much easier and cheap.
Like to see you at the next meeting, Are you a member?

Yes Bill, I am a member, sorry I wasn't able to attend the last meeting to vote for you. ;)
I will look into the Thermal Tape option.

Thanks.

So what is the grand total Cheng? I am interested and want to go to the LED's hopefully by the time my halides are due for a change. I would rather spend money on a new fixture with better light output then spend 500 for bulbs for expensive juice eating lights.

Cheng, check out the drivers from Nano-Tuners. They're much more efficient than the meanwells. They have some for $80 that will do 30 LEDs each. They're dimmable, too.

Brandon

Too late. hehe thanks for the info thou.

The drivers I got are around 90% eff, I could pay more and get something high eff, than I thought about if I want to pay $30 for $2% more eff? hehe. I went w/ cheap one, 24 per driver just in case I screw up. :)

waiting for the led... and I don't expect there will be too much heat for the heat sinks, so I only got 2 stealth fans

Hey Cheng, What size tank are you putting this on? At only 4.25" wide you will not get much spread of the light. Or are you putting 2 side by side? Just curious.
Bill

110g, 48x18x31

I thought about that..

1. The leds will have 60° optics,
2. plus the fixture will be 4.24" wide,
3. My tank is 18" wide.

=>
1. The light fixture needs to cover 18/2-4.24/2=6.88" for each side
2. highet required to cover 6.88" = 6.88 tan60°= 6.88*1.73=11.90"

=>
As long as the coral is 12" or further from the fixture, it will get the light.
In my case, the fixture will be 10" from the surface of the water, so it should be fine...
