I was watching my tank tonight, i decided i would feed the clowns where there was less tide so they could eat as much food before it drifted into the rocks, I know my peppermints go nuts at feeding time and one of the peppermints seems a little too excited at feeding time,

it mistaked the tentacles of the torch coral to be food and began to rip at its tentacles like it does to aptasia, i made some quick movements to scare it off and then fed it a small chunk of meat.

Is this normal for peppermints to get this aggresive at feeding time?

mine has never picked at a coral at dinner time, but he does get very excited when i do feed.he also likes to clean under my fingernails when im working in the tank, guess i didnt do a good enough job

This can happen. I lost a few polyps of pocillopora to an overexcited pep, but he gave up the notion. It may happen right around molt, when they're desperate for certain nutrients. Feed them extra and they'll behave for you.
