percula acting strange

i have a 30 gal thats been running for about 6 months with fish i've had the percula since the beggining and has always stayed in the middle of the tank when the lights were on. i added a yellow corris wrasse a week ago and acouple days later he started swimming on the bottom and alot more rapidly twitching almost. i noticed today he has been fanning the sand making a hole but he just sits in the hole not moving for short periods of time. my main concerns are the rapid swimming and the not moving just sitting on the bottom. the first thought is that the wrasse may be too aggressive? do have a firefish that has a nipped tail fin but dont know where from only fish are the corris wrasse, firefish, clown with a clean up creww and shrimp. any input would be appreciated.

thanks

Sounds like it's made it's "nest" in the sand. Clownfish are strange. I've had many that 'fan' away the substrate and just sit there. Perhaps with the new addition it felt the need to stake out some territory much like it would if it were being hosted by an anemone. You did quarantine the new additions, right?

I have a mated pair of percula clowns and they basically stay in conch shells that I have side by side. They also lay their eggs in one of them. I think it just wants its own place to hang out.

sorry i couldn't get back sooner, unfortunately i do not have a QT tank...that is a prob im in the process of fixing. i tested the water today and the ammonia is a little high. the good news is the clown stopped the sudden movements and random swimming, bad news is he/she was the one nipping the tail fin of the firefish and seems to be swimming vertical alot more (it is a tall tank and some food does stay floating). will the aggression toward the firefish continue (the 2 lived together for 4 months with 0 issues) or do i need to get rid of a fish? thanks for the advice.
