I had a pair of perculas going on 4 years and just recently my tank crashed and I only have 1 female true percula Today I went to petco and fell in love with a black and white occelaris and he is only $20 I already have an anenome do you think I should get the fish.

does anybody have any pictures of a pair of them I realy want to know how they look together before I go and get one. Also I think he is a little bit smaller.

Make sure you quarantine that Ocellaris. The Petco near our house have tanks full of chemical and disease fish. 20.00 is a very good price for B&W Ocellaris but certainly Petco is not the best place to buy fish. If this fish wipe your tank out, It will be a very expensive fish.
BTW, IMO, the B&W fish for 20.00 is most likely a Black variety of A. polymnus or Saddleback clownfish rather than a "B&W Perc" as often lable by most LFS.
Goodluck

I didn't think about that, but I bet you're right.

tylerdj. If you do get this fish, can you post pics?

I should get it today if my parents let me I also know for a fact it is a black perc because I read alot on them and this one definitely is

Definately QT if your buying anything from Petco!!! I wouldn't buy anything there in the first place but if you do make sure you give it a good 4 wks QT.

A $20 fish may sound like a good deal but when it brings ICH or some other parasites into your tank you'll be sorry and spending much more money on treatments.

"Black Perc" if it is on sale at Petco are tank raise Ocellaris form ORA. These will not be price at 20.00 but more like 40.00
If your "Black Perk" have slanted second bar, a yellow face and yellow pectoralis fins, then it is a wild caught black A. polymnus.
Here is a picture of the black variety of A. polymnus (google search):

I usualy don't buy from petco but this was an acception right now he is in qt. he is very active and beautiful I don't see any ich or scars. But he is a misbarred clown.

couple of lfs by me will do $25 bw misbar from ora if u pre order. petco are independently owned, sometimes u get lucky. the same ora b/w clowns are going for $170 a pair at a local saltwater shop a mile down the street. i'd treat any clown from a lfs as damaged goods, and plan for the worse. just saw that u were 11. i'd go for it if the fish looks healthy and u really want one bad. otherwise there are some cool $ 5 fish. most are bullitproof.

Does the misbar look like the center stripe on these fish?

his center stripe does look alot like that but his fins are darker. also he can see the other clown and I don't know how well they get along so im hoping for the best and prepared for the worst. Also when I got him it was a going out of businnes sale and he was originaly marked $40

OrionN was right earlier in the thread. You have a black A. Polymnus. AKA Saddle Back Anemone fish.

Do you have the new fish in a small breeder inside the tank, or in a tank next to the one with the older fish? If they are biting at each other through the glass, you don't want to release the new guy. Someone will probably die. Keep them separated until they grow accustom to each other.

I got a pair of those, but the face has a touch of orange.

I too got them from Petco, QT'ed for 4 weeks and then in it went.

I actually got three, but one went messing a year later.

I had to argued with the manager that these were not damsels but black perks. The price was 3.49 each for damsels and after about 10 mins, I took all three of them for less than 15 dollars.

This past weekend, I went to pick up some dog food and saw these two little ocellaris, I mean they were dime size huddled at the over flow. I want to take them home so bad. Poor little guys.

I really hate petco and their saltwater dept.

That's not a pic of a "black perc". It's a pic of a Saddle Back.

Didn't mean to copy the pic, wanted to copy the story about petco.

They are the worst.

You are correct, that is a pic of a saddle back.

as soon as I figure out how to post pics I will post one.
You have to put the picture on the net smewhere then type
["img]......["/img]
Don't put the quotation mark, I have to put it there so the BB does not think that I am trying to post a picture, and the ..... is the address where the picture stored on the internet.
