percula and carpet?

Carpets are natural symbionts for percula. "Is a carpet too aggressive?" What is this question referring to?

ok. but i thought percs had a natural symbiosis with bubbles?

i meant is a carpet to aggressive for percs. will it eat them. they are very good at eating more fish than other anemones.

Gigantea carpets are natural symbionts, and/or mertensii's (* depends on percula versus ocellaris, to me they're basically the same fish, but to a purist, they are not..), but not haddoni's.

They might host in a haddoni .... although I have heard of haddoni's eating clowns. Not often, but not impossible.

i was thinking of a red haddoni in a 20gal. two fish: black percs or this other clown, i cannot think of the name. looks like a clarkii, from Australia, rusty orange color.

any anemone in a 20 gallon would be a little irresponsible especially if you are inexperienced in keeping anemones.
Haddoni get to 2.5 foot in captivity sometimes and the reds are notoriously difficult to keep.

the fish you speak of are probably A.akinydos (barrier reef clownfish etc)
They are large, way to large for a 20 gallon.

with experience, exceptional husbandry and a large sump skimmer etc, you may get away with a BTa and a pair of tank raised ocellaris or percs.

good luck.

Perculas are not natural symbionts with BTA's, but they sometimes become host for Peculas in aquaria. The three natural hosts for Percula are: H. crispa, H. magnifica, and S. gigantea. A 20 gallon is a little on the small side for S. haddoni, they get large and eat a lot of food. A 30 gallon long is the smallest I would consider and a 40 breeder tank would be better. If you want to keep haddoni, then clarkii is a natural symbiont as is the sebae clown. If you are new to keeping anemones, you might find BTA's to be a good first choice. They tend to be forgiving in terms of husbandry demands. Also, BTA's host a wide variety of clownfish--including ocellaris and percula in aquaria (but not in nature).

I have a haddoni and a lta in my tank, the lta has been in the tank for some time my perclua didnt go near it. As soon as I added my haddoni my clown iImmediately hosted it.

My haddoni has swallowed 2 black ocellaris clowns and 1 percula clown. I have personally seen haddoni's hosting percula/ocellaris clowns a couple of time before I just wasent lucky

I have kept a few anemones in the past and haddonis are my favorite.
I was leaning towards black percs because their smaller.
My plan was to have nothing in the tank but the clowns and carpet. Maybe a small pile of rocks in the corner. This would only be for no more than a year. I liked like to set up something larger.
I like small setups of a specific region. But I settle on what I can get.

hers mine in a haddoni

A.akinydos - barrier reef clownfish
Yeah. That's it. I love the color of these fish. I had my buddy buy a pair and I was intending to buy them off him. But his percs killed them. Really weird. The female perc grabbed the male and shook him. A week later she did the same to the female akinydos. The female akinydos was 3X the pers size. This was in a 90gal.

If its true a good example of why mixing clowns is risky undertaking at best.
