+1 for this. It gets so annoying hearing all the complaining of the "old timers" who have seen every morph possible, cannot stand names, cannot stand frags, etc. It just seems they get grumpier and less capable of understanding their way is not the only way.I think maybe instead of complaining about small frags, lets show our colonies of beautiful polyps and aspire those who chop up small frags to grow them out. I truly for one look forward to the continued growth of my zoa island. Reminds me of armies of old clashing into one another.

The problem I see is that you guys state we should all try and understand each other but the fact of the matter is that the old timers aren't willing to do so. You prove it in this thread where you try to make the decision for all what a "nice reef tank would look like".The thing is that the so called "old timers" do want to wake you up to the reality and so you could picture what a nice reef tank would look like. Pleasure to the eyes and proud to watch it grow. Not overpriced pieces of zoas on the market.
...
Many "old timers" are gone from here and the newbies won't have the pleasure to know many things they've learned, and would like to teach, because for the newbies, the cartoon names are more important.
This is very sad!

Grandis.
I don't find the OP attempting to educate at all. It comes across to me that he is telling us what he doesn't like to see and how he has grown past that period in his own reefing "career". He even goes so far as to tell people to let their frags grow out. What if that is never the intention of the person with the frag?Telling or educating?
What other way are you implying?
Do you have suggestions?
The decision of how your tank will look like is yours. Thank God!!! LOL!!The problem I see is that you guys state we should all try and understand each other but the fact of the matter is that the old timers aren't willing to do so. Pleasure of learning the things they've learned, with serious topics from the "old timers" because they're gone! Please read the context. You also state the newbies won't have the "pleasure" of learning. Well I will be honest, coming from this thread alone it is clear to newbies that if they have a tank that doesn't look the way the old timers want it to then the discussion and "learning" will be no pleasure at all.
Ok, use your cartoon names. No problem. I don't know who you're referring to, but perhaps you misunderstood his point? In the "old timer's" mind most of the time they're just trying to explain to you their point of view. Many times they don't mean to be aggressive. I'm not. There is an old timer here and I cannot remember his name (eichler or soemthing) but it was no pleasure at all when he posted here a few months ago. He stated the same as you, tired of what is going on and even stated that he doesn't care about the newbies because they don't know the exact difference between zoa and paly. Yeah, reading those posts of his were real pleasurable.
I didn't start this post. I don't have time and don't need to see many of the many plugged systems anyway, but we all should have the right to write here and try to expose the thoughts. Old timers or newbies... No matter. If you want to "try to understand" everyone then quit starting posts talking about what you hate to see.
No you are not alone in this pet peeve.
As Mucho Reef says
Anyone can build a reef.....the greater challenge......is to grow one!
