almost bought it for my other tank so even if you don't come and get i will most definitely keep it.

We are supposed to be getting a new car Saturday so that would be a great road trip. I can also hit some of the Ill lfs.

nemos gets new stuff sometime during the day on thursday and aquatic treasures gets stuff on fridays.

New poster to the slash forum, but I live in the metro east... this may seem like a random question, but is stuff from Petco considered to be OK? I've been in there and the tanks look pretty good but always stopped short of making a purchase because of the "big box" phobia I have. Nemos and Aquatic Treasures are awesome btw -- We're super lucky to have such great stores so close!

to SLASH on reefcentral!

I personally won't buy saltwater livestock from the ones in my area. They know nothing about the animals they sell and the fish are always diseased. There are way too many quality stores in the area to waste my time looking there and continue to support the negligent care they give the animals. From time to time the will get something like this anemone in not knowing what they have and someone will buy it just to save it.

Still no pics?

Bethy- I have only bought two fish from petco. Both were clowns, and marked at $6. So I had to buy them. They live long, and were healthy until my porc swallowed them. If you come across a good deal. I wouldn't pass it up. Just QT everything.

petco gets there stuff from same place some other local fish stores do, what matters is who is taking care of the tanks at petco. Let me get camera out real quick and snap pic.
Nemos and aquatic treasure do ok but there are a few across the river that are real nice stores.

man you guys are harsh "still no pics" and " Long acclimation", Been working midnight shift and wife went and picked it up for me, harsh crowd. I bought black ocellaris clown for 30 bucks from petco and foxface and tomini tang which i have had for over year and doing great, it depends on the store and who takes care of them and your own experience on how to spot a healthy fish.

I think it's great that there is someone there that takes care of the tanks, and I'm not trying to bash anyone for buying from them when they do. The problem I have with them is that it's not consistent. The one by me had a guy that knew his stuff when it first opened but after the first year he was gone and it hasn't been the same since. The couple other stores I have been in recently also had terrible looking SW tanks. I like PetCo as a pet supply store but if they can't consistently give good care to the animals in all of their stores they should not sell them. (steps off soapbox) :wavehand:
