I wish I could get mine to start coloring up. Seems like he's stuck in this in-between state. I think he just needs more time to acclimate. He's very sensitive little baby for sure. I think I may try to do a zoo transplant. Maybe that will help him.
Great documentation by the way Minh. I'll document mine as well.
Did you notice anything positive shortly after the transplant? Did he seem to be healthier or did he color up quicker in your opinion? How long did it take for total color restoration?
I am at it again. I saw this anemone last week at Petco. I am such a sucker for save-able Gigantea. I bought him even if I don't really have the room for him when he is full growth. I guest I will keep him permanently in my QT system (unless I am going to put another anemone in QT) If this is the case, I think of something or else set up another tank for more anemones.
My newest Petco Anemone in my QT system. Healthy this time and no treatment needed. Fed him some salmon this evening.
Never deflated in my tank.
Here he is today. Not as healthy as I like for him to be but not really sick to be treated. I don't know why he does not continue to improve. This is a bad sign, and I am not sure what to do about it. I give it a few more day and may start on treatment and see if he improve. Compare to the last picture, you can see that he regress rather than getting healthier.
yeah, it's getting balder around the mouth. i dont have luck with 2nd treatment, i used to have 2 blue gigs, both went through treatments, both doing well for over a year, then somehow the smaller one start to do the inflated/deflated death spiral, so i go ahead give it a cipro treatment, but didnt do anything. i ended up losing it after 7 days.
He decline very slowly. Not deflated but close down smaller at night. We are on spring break so I cannot treat him. If he is not too far gone I plan to start treatment when I get back. Does not look good. Timing of things make it difficult. Next week everything will go back to normal schedule.
Right now I am not home daily. This whole week I am only home several days
Picture of this anemone today. He is OK, but not as well as I like for him to be. Larger picture of my QT system with a Maxima in QT and various other things including a lot of algae.
I've struggled with the small ones as well. It takes a long time for them to recover and start growing.
On a similar note, I currently have a green one that's only about 3" and hasn't grown no matter how much I feed it, and I've had it for over a year. It's in the tank with 7 other gigs, so I'm wondering if allelopathy has something to do with it, as only one gig grows and the others stay the same size.

I am in South Texas. Far south. I think Petco is hit and miss. They have the potential and the support to be a reasonable LFS but it is all depends on the knowledge of the salt water manager, or the aquarium manager.
