Gonna give this one a try, supposed to be a LTA.
Reacts quickly when touched, have it in a 20long with a kessil about 20" off the water..
Feeding attempt in the AM...

That has ringed tenacles. It is not a M. Doreensis (LTA). Maybe a H. Malu

I didn't think it was an LTA, but it was the only one that showed any reaction to being touched..
Salesperson said it looked like an LTA so I didn't argue, thinking about going back tomorrow and getting the other one.
It is shrunk up right now, got to raise the Kessil up another foot..
I hope I can get this one to pull through..

I will get a few better pics later tonight..

It wasent happy buried in the sand (wouldn't stick down), pushed it into a corner that has a lot of rubble/broken shells, it stuck to the glass in a few minutes.
Since the it has moved down off the glass mostly and is burying its foot in the rubble..
Feeding went ok, nassarius snails kept stealing his mysis shrimp....
He has opened up a bit more as of this morning...

It is a H. aurora. Ring tentacles are different than H. malu. Aurora often for sale as zebra anemones by Petco. The don't get very big.

I wish petco would just stop offering sw specimens. Most are swimming dead when I see them at the store.

The aquarium manager have huge influence on out come, like any other pet store. I have no problem buying from Corpus Christi Petco. The even special order for me.

I agree... our petco aquarium people all have SW tanks and keep creatures and tanks looking better than you'd see elsewhere

I"m also lucky to have good employees that know saltwater reefs at my Petco and have had no problems with anything that I've gotten there.

I just recently had them order an ORA Matted File Fish $19.99 :D and while I was there I found a really nice 6"+ GBTA also on sale for $19.99

So it does matter if you have people that know SW or not.

Found an older post of yours (cut/ paste below)
is this info still good??

From anemone FAQ
Heteractis aurora (Beaded, or Sand anemone)
Difficulty: More difficult.
Maximum size: 1 foot in diameter, though large sizes rarely seen in trade.
Recommended Minimum Tank Size: Small-medium (minimum 10 gallons).
Placement in Tank: In the sand only.
Light: Metal halide lighting.
Current: Low - moderate.
Natural clown fish symbionts:
A. akindynos
A. allardi
A. bicinctus
A. chrysogaster
A. chrysopterus
A. clarkii
Split history in captivity: None.
Additional info: Unique “knobby” tentacles make this anemone easy to identify.
Frequently available in a sandy brown color, but occasionally seen in bright purple or
other bright colors. Like other sand anemones, prefers to bury its base deep in the sand,
with its oral disk lying flat on the surface of the sand.

Fed it again today, nassarius snails tried to rob it,, anemone must have a good sting as they quit after a few tries...

going back to petco in the am, gonna pick up the other one if it is still there..

Searching for a pic of the Zebra Anemone brings up some beautiful anemones..
Zebra-striped Gorgonian Wrapper
Beadlet anemone, Actinia equine
Venus flytrap sea anemone (Actinoscyphia Aurelia)
