Pete's 110 build

Wow! That zoa pic is intense!

thanks Brett

I got home today and noticed a couple of my new Acans didn't look happy. After some research it sounds like they may like moderate light. I had them in an intense light with my SPS so I'll be moving them lower in the tank

How are the Acans looking now Pete?

the ones I moved are doing / looking much better

One was originally in semi shade and has always been full

The one that looked the worse was moved to the bottom of the tank and my wife says it looks the best of all of them now

I moved two others that were semi pulled in (not bad) to the semi shaded area and they also perked up

the 5th ACANs looked fine in the direct and intense light but it has 2 types of ACANs on it: a red/pink and a blue/green. The blue/green ACANs are pulling in so I asked my wife to move it. I need to get an update on it.

the real good news is I'm now convinced they will do just fine on the sides of my rock work where they will get a mixture of direct and semi direct lighting about 18" down

thanks - the guy I bought them from just called them orange with yellow skirts
I bought them to replace a large rock of some others that looked just like them but lost in my 300g tank failure.

I don't think the blue ring showed up in the tank that they came from so they may have slightly morphed or I just have differnt lighting. More a lighting issue I'm sure but I've had several zoa's morph over time and most to the good. So I'll often buy cheap and hope for the best.

I think you will find these under the comon name of "Dragon Eyes"

thanks for asking :)

a 3 month sps coral growth update - all 9 of these sps I got from a local DFWMAS club member on 9/17. Videos taken 12/11

thanks Syed - that picture of the gorgonian in your avatar is stunning, any idea on the care for it as I would like to get a red or orange gorg that has reasonable polyp extension durring daylight

Yes this Grogonian was in my 120 gallon. I lost it when I was building my 300G in March until July. Lack of taking care of my 120 g mixed reef I lost my bird nest as well. Planning to take another in 300G. Want to share my tank with you http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1849903&page=26

Any suggestion from you is most welcome. I like your super actinic lights. planning to do something like what you have done.

BTW comparison SPS growth video is great....

Well done... keep it up..... I enjoyed a lot to see your update video...;)

Looking great Pete. I'll have to stop over next time I'm in Dallas. I especially like the $500 efflo.

That's the best filming yet. :) Absolutely beautiful Pete.

Thanks Brett - I upgraded my wifes PC operating system to Windows 7 and did the HD video editing in microsoft movie maker. The old version of movie maker for the Win XP did not handle the HD video so this was the first time I actually edited the HD clips

Sorry pste, i did not reply your question. I m not to much expert about grogonian. I think it's not PS. it require good planktonic food two, three times a day. What I obseved strong light is not good for it. I keep under rock shades. not require too much flow.

Gotcha, thanks for letting me know. I'm having a tough time getting my renders to look like the original video for some reason. I'm using Sony Vegas but can't get the uploads to render properly. Hmmm. I've uploaded a couple vids straight from my the PMB software and those look good, but unfortunately there's no editing software in that program. I'm still on XP dangit...

That's the same issue I was having with freeware video editing software (and I tried a couple different ones that were highly rated). The end result just wasn't the same quality as the original. All previous downloads are the raw videos; from the camera using the PMB software, to the PC, to YouTube with no editing.

I just happened to be doing a hardware upgrade to the wife's PC and while at Fry's saw a Windows 7 family pack. I had heard that Windows 7 was pretty good and had worked out the bugs but I hadn't intended upgrading for another year or longer. The family pack is for 3 PC's for $129 (or $43 a PC. Not a bad deal considering we have at least 3 PC's at the house running XP.
