Hey guys. Sorry for not updating in a while. In short the tank is doing fine though I was and still am battling nitrates and had a heater failure last year that took several corals and my large clam with it
Nitrates. Obviously heavy feeding for non photosynthetic corals requires bacterial carbon supliments and or water changes. I let these slip for a while and saw nitrates commonly above 20. I have since reduced feeding and stopped carbon supplements and nitrates are about 2-5 but I no longer keep non photosynthetic corals.
The heater went out last year while I was away for a week. The temp dropped to about 60 for several days , I'm actually surprised any of the corals survived. I'll provide more of an update later.
I will admit I like the APEX fusion application just sorry I didn't update to it sooner.
Beautiful tank and photos. Thanks for sharing them with the ready of us! I have a specimen of that orange gorgonian you posted a photo of in 5/2013 (p.50). Mine seems pretty happy, but I've only had him about a month and a half if I remember correctly. Could you share any advice with a novice about you're experience with that species? I don't even know the name of it.
