Pete's 110 build

Wow

Wow

Your tank continues to make me jealous.

Are your lights on full blast here? The colors, especially flourescents are incredible.

Amazing video - my compliments to the videographer! I can't believe how much you feed...is it that much everyday? A lot of mouths, I guess. I didn't see live brine shrimp, did I?

I love those two corals at 3:55-4:03, and that's some climbing hermit!

the pictures taken of the full tank shot (FTS) and others shown in the same post are with all lights on. The videos posted later are with just the LED's on.

The camera I used actually did a decent job considering I didn't set the white ballance. My camcorder still takes better macros but needs the white ballance set or everything is blue blue blue.

sooo beautiful. :)
LOVE the video. That's an educational video too, invaluable to those who want to know how to feed corals and fish. Great closeups of the food and explaining and showing each step.

thanks

I wish I had a decent cmaera with more lens for both macro and Full Tank Shots (FTS)
for my macro shots I'm using my Sony HD video camera, I'm pleased with the results but I'm limited to how far away I can be for the pictures to come out clear (like 4-6" inside the glass with the camera right up against the glass)

I usually used my SLRs for stills, but recently inherited an HD Sony handycam from 2008'ish. I think i will give it a try because i like how your shots are turning out : )

Pete - I always get excited when you post new pics or videos. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing tank with us. What are your thoughts on your current LED/T5 hybrid lighting? Do you plan to keep the T5s or replace them with LEDs at some point. I'm in the planning stages with re-boosting my 90 gallon and lighting is the only thing that I haven't nailed down yet.

Take Care.

Pete

what model is it? mine is only a couple years old (Sony HDR-XR150), who knows maybe they are the same model

Amazing pics Pete, the tank looks fantastic! Apparently I need to be feeding ALOT more food. :D

thanks Brett, if you increase just make sure what you feed gets consumed in a short period of time and consider adding to the CuC just in case. I do like how the corals respond to the ReefPearls.

...Jawdrops...

Thanks :)

As for lighting; I was initially thinking of slowly replacing the T5s with LED's but fro now I'm planning on keeping the T5's for mid day intensity. I am considering adding a few "fill in" LED's to expand on the color spectrum and bridge the gap from full LED only to full T5 and LED combo. If this works out well I'll try experimenting with shorter durations on the T5's and more LEDs, monitor coral growth, health and color and decide from there.

I will add it would appear some corals seem to like LEDs more then the T5s and some the T5s more so then the LED's. But this could be more a duration thing then spectrum

Alk = 10.2 Salifert, 9.9 Hanna
I decided to cut back on the Ca reactor to let it drop to around 9ish

Your last video of feeding the tank was one of the best videos on this forum. It was very clear and had great information. Thanks!!

:fun2:
Nice vid of the tank feeding pete. Your siphon sounds like a drive belt that needs replacing. :)

Your corals are so healthy looking Pete, I like that chips a lot. The efflo under it is pretty nice too.

Amazing video.
Its good to see that you're able to maintain water quality and nice coral coloration while heavily feeding.
do yo ufeed this much daily?

Thanks Maroun, and yes that is my normal feeding routine. I also feed phytoplankton in the morning and sometimes double up on the ReefPearls or mysis

I am still battling nitrates, they seem to go up and down, I haven’t pegged exactly why one day I’ll get a reading below five and the next near ten. Before I increase my bio pellets to the full-recommended amount I want to get my Alk down from 10.2 to around 8.5-9.0ish.

No complaints from me though as through it all the coral colors have remained awesome.

Could it be related to the timing of your test like testing soon after a feeding where some potential still floating nutrients are getting interepreted by the test as nitrates?
