is that bi-color blenny the one in your avatar?

i didnt know you have a 29g? keeping any other neat little reef related secrets? :)

Yes - that would be Jaba Jr:D

The 29 was originally set up as a seahorse tank. The ponies were doing great until the male died while pregnant; he got stuck on a power head. The female meet an unfortunate demise due to my stupidity. She was hanging on a vacuum tube when I pulled it out of the tank late at night not knowing she was there.

I'm really torn on what I'm going to do with this tank but it probably wont stay here as a 29g. I am considering a self contained (built in refugium / skimmer) design with a false back somewhere in the 30" cube size. If I go this route I'll probably build it myself. I want to give the ponies a little more vertical space for their mating ritual.

quick check on the calculation

in my 300g system, a drop from 7.4 to 5.4 requires about 6 gallons of saturated lime water to bring back up. at 3 gallons a day for 2 days, it's looking like it just didn't dose.

Looks like I should have monitored the timer or at least checked parameters over the weekend. I guess my confidence was up on the timer thing, and I let some other things take priorty - like yard work, cleaning my 29gallon tank, watching football and some online gaming :)

I tested a couple circuits on my RK2 and could not get the multi timer to work. I had another heavy duty digital timer available, so I decided to use it instead (it's what I intended to do initially anyway) I'll have to ask Digital Aquatics about the multi timer feature, maybe I got something set up wrong. :(

I went ahead and dosed a couple gallons of lime water and baked baking soda today to bring Alk up some. My water level was then above normal, so I decided to run the fans 24/7 to force a little more evaporation.

Frank has a really nice new cube in his shop, much better than the one we were looking at during his sale.

I'd love to see a horse tank Pete, that or a RBTA/clown tank like Marc's front angled tank.

any idea on how big it is? Regardless I may eventually build this as there is a circulation design I want to work in are not your typical overflow type. And I want that extra height for the ponies

I had one of my 400w 10ks on tonight after the normal lighting period. Colors were a little different, more yellow/red, but I really liked the color depth and shimmer the single light was putting on the corals. I should have taken a video..

here is a picture of my purple/blue prostrata under normal lights

and under the 10k's not much difference from the front but you can see a little more red/brown come through (huge difference from above as I posted a few pages back)

Everytime I see a picture of that Chromis it amazes me. I just can't believe a fish could survive with a chunk missing, it's incredible :D! I noticed that the Stag is shading some zoas too, does it have any negative effects on those?

Oh, and JJ is just too cool :D.

Great ideo Pete! JJ is really neat to watch.

See you at the meeting tonight.

thanks Jay

I plan on being there, unless we go out for dinner, it's my daughters birthday today.:celeb1:

that chromis continues to amaze me. Everyday when I get home he is the first thing I look for. And to thin I initially gave him zero chance of surviving, I even thought about catching him and putting him out of his misery. Shame on me for thinking that and not giving life a chance.

the zoa's are stretching for light so I'm sure they will be happier when I move the large stag horn colony. I don't know if I'll leave the Zoa rock there yet or not. I do need to clean some Rics of it though.

thanks Hop, I took the video about a year ago. I thought it had a part where he was upside down looking at me working on the top of the tank. It my have been a picture, either way it's a riot. They are so away of their surroundings, always checking things out, and when you think you have their attention, they go off and spit sand at you like, "hey you, yeah you on the other side of the glass --- eat this".

She's only Ms Ft Worth till Sat when she gives up her crown at Trinity Valley School.

Opps - isn't that like 3 blocks form where you live, guess I'll be there all day keeping an eye on things :eek1:

Hmm. And here I am with nothing planned for Saturday. Seems like Karma is smiling down upon me. ;)

well Marc - if you want to go just let me know but give me ample time to oil the shotgun

Jay - you may want to check into it, I bet your daughters would love it

I feel sorry for this poor male clown, the female has a constant supply of eggs going so he never gets a chance to leave the area. She'll lay them and wonder off to flirt with the other fish leaving the male at home to protect the roe.

here are the main reasons I don't ever find any more bristle worms in my tank

I'll see them at day when I feed, otherwise they are pretty much nocturnal. They are probably also the reason why I have a chromis with a major chuck of it belly missing.
