So my fish find more interesting ways to die. The last one got stuck in between two rocks and couldn't breathe or move.

You may have too much rock then.

Pete, do I have too much in your opinion.

i had a fish get stuck in a rock and die like that too! my wifes purple psuedochromis "Glowna"...

i was doing some tank maintainance and i had taken all the rocks out of the tank, but while i was removing the rock the fish swam into a hole in one of the rocks. when i was done i put everything back in the tank expecting the fish to come back out when things settled down. not the case at all. a few hours later i saw a bunch of hermit crabs huddled around the same place on a rock, and apon further inspection i noticed the fishs head poking out of a hole, and the crabs had been eating the face! i couldnt believe that a fish could have possibly gotten itself into a situation like that? i thought they were a little more crafty than that!

thats cool! how long did you live in the city for? my wife is from S.F. i almost moved there once but decided against it because i had no car and no job. i was supposed to be living in a friends old chuch store that tanked. i guess people in the mission district care more about dope than religion, who woulda thunk? :D i had moved all my stuff there but thats as far as i got! i never spent a single night there. i kept envisioning myslef covered in **** begging for money on the street corner like the rest of the locals. that was all it took!

i have a friend that works for the Alameda County Shreiff. he's a deputy out there, real nice guy!

i really love the bay area, but there's so much that i hate about it that i just couldnt justify living there any more. the cost and the crime rate were amongst the biggest factors of my move. i think the politics and population were next!

sorry to hear about your fish. i remember when i came home one day to find me longest kept fish stuck to the carpet. i was suprisingly upset considering it was a only a fish. lenny the lawnmower blenny. :)

and i really hope your corals reverse their little "mood swing" that their having! your corals are way too pretty to die! :D

we lived in San Francisco from 1971 - 1974. My dad was still in the Navy, stationed at Hunters Point Naval Ship Yard. They closed it in 1974 and he retired from the navy when I was a junior in HS. I almost spent my senior year in Taiwan as that's where he went to work, but instead we ended up moving to southern California while he was overseas. I think he traveled as much after he went to work for a company as he did while in the navy.

My sister ended up going back to the bay area, finished college there, rented in San Fran for many years and then found a good deal on a home in Alameda where she lives today.

All my other corals look fine; it's just the gorg. It's still pulled in on just the one side.

Have you taken a measurement with only the 250's on? Maybe that will finally convince you to put the 400's on a regular timer for an hour or two every day. :)

Sorry to hear about the anthias. I haven't had any jumpers yet because of the canopy. So my fish find more interesting ways to die. The last one got stuck in between two rocks and couldn't breathe or move.

nope - I was out most all day yesterday at a friends wedding, got home did the water change and that's about it.

I need to get the RO/DI filters changed but we want to put up some Christmas lights first then tonight I want to watch the cowboys game and go work out.

One of these days those 400's will go on a timer with high temp shut off, I have everything to hook them up and it really shouldn't take but just a couple minutes.

It was joking, of course. Look what you typed. ;)

I wondered for a minute because I just added 20 more pounds of tonga branch. That stuff is gorgeous BTW. If you remove that frilly mushroom rock, you need to replace it with some of this.

When are you going to drop by and look at my reef Marc? You haven't seen my setup since you repaired my sump. I really want the opinion of the "reef whisperer" sometime. ;)

You know me, I'm just sitting here twiddling my thumbs wishing I had something to do for a change. :D

If the roads are icy on Tuesday, I won't be venturing out guys.

Sage advice from the reef whisperer ;)

The roads were all sanded and clear this morning when I drove to work.

I think my sps love the Kalc dump at night, if I catch them within an hour or so after the 1 gallon kalc dose the PE is unreal - as seen here

prostrata - I notice that the polyp extension is opposite at night as it is day. Day - radial extended, axial retracted; night radial retracted, axial extended (I think I got those right), compare to pictures in next post
