Things look happy! I never get the extension you have when my lights are on.

I still think it is an efflo. :p Those acans are very pretty. You know you can feed them, as they are LPS. Just drizzle some thawed mysis over them when their feeders are extended.

I'll have to try that - as it would be nice to try and get them to grow out faster.

I feed some mojanos today and moved a few things around
I ended up pulling my main chips acropora colony and gave it a good dip in ReVive. No bad boys found, just some brittles.

I move it forward in the tank some to get out from under the shadow of the milleporas above it. With it being a bit closer to the front glass I should be able to get some better close ups of it. I tried taking a couple but it was still kind of upset from the bath so I'll try again later in the week.

I did take some of the new addition I got from Robert (Fish2morrow)

Any ideas on an ID?

I also think it looks like the beginnings of a very nice efflo. :)

May want to check out the stage names "Ultimate Efflo" & "$500 Efflow" I believe they both have a coloration similar to yours.

Thanks Tswifty
and it would be nice if it turns out to be an efflo

here are a few more pictures from today (including another of the blob)

It sounds the perfect day to do a big water change and de-ice your driveway with all of the salt water you remove.

PS: I'm clear for our Saturday trip across town.

you guys should consider making a Ft Worth run, we are in the planning stages of a tank tour in late Feb. But even if you can't make it then, if your ever in the area drop me a note if you want to come by and see the tank.

if im ever in the area ide love to! but i might just knock on the door and then run away. i get a little freaked out about meeting people, marc knows how i am about that :D

thanks str8salt - nice to hear people actually appreciate the posts

here is my project for the day

remember my old clam cage
oldclamcage.jpg

here is the new one being fabricated
I formed the bent corners around 1 1/2" PVC after boiling (as suggested by Marc - thanks Marc, looks like it works great ). The boiling does shrink the eggcrate about 5%, so I had to compensate by boiling everything, not just the bends

Hopefully you left your clams a little more room to grow in there this time. :) I can't wait to see the finished product in the tank!

PS: The kole tang is finally eating! I swear I could jump for joy. He prefers formula two flake, and his ich is also looking quite a bit better too. How is yours faring?

yep - the new cage is larger in all directions so they should have a little more room to grow.

Great news on the Kole. Mine still picks on rocks, and leaves the prepared foods alone. But, he's very fat and socializes with all the other tangs with no issues. He even fends for himself when they try to act tuff.

That is a great idea. I am going to put something like that to use!

Always good to share ideas. If I can give back 1% of the ideas I got form the forums I'd be doing good.

here are the clams (uncovered)
clamsfront.jpg

I tried to get a top down but it's a blind shot and the water was murky from me stirring up the sand bed.

Later on as I was cleaning the glass and doing a water change the pencil urchin decided to cruse through the area. At first I though he may be causing some trouble, but he just went over the top of the clams and was gone in about 2 minutes. It's a flash picture as my halides were already out.

I should mention those two Croceas were the same size when I bought them. The one on the right (front) always seemed to get some of it's mantle covered (my wife said it just liked to snuggle). You can see the growth difference in the pictures.
