Looks like cement. :D

Concrete = lime + sand + water. A little calcification is to be expected when dosing lime and using two-part. ;)

Hey Pete, where did you get the black tubing? I've been looking for that forever, I'm getting really tired of looking at the coralline and diatom encrusted clear tubing.

I picked it up at Lowes or Home Depot. They only had the black in 1/2" or I would have picked up some 1/4 and 3/8. I agree the algae inside the clear tube is getting old.

Are you still considering adding a second bucket of media? That will increase the dkh and the PH of the effluent some.

Losing only half a dkh over two days is nearly dialed in though. Great stuff!

How do all the corals look? (Post more pics!)

tank DKh dropped to 8.0 so I reset the controller to 6.3

bubble count seems steady at 3 per second

I will be adding more media but need to order some

DKh was 8.4ish this morning then went to 9.0 and is holding there (bubble count 3 per second, controller Ph set at 6.3)

tank Ph has been 8.02 since I got up

Coral PE was retracted for a while around noon but looks okay right now, not quite as much as normal but okay

My main pink birdsnest is STNing from where a frog spawn has been stinging it. At first it seemed to be localized but now it's creeping into other branches, so I may be pulling it later.

Your corals don't seem to mind the change at all, they're looking great!

Now tell us all how much you miss dosing two part every day by hand.

If you are having a alkalinity problem, why don't you add a little more media to the chamber instead of running the PH really low?

I'm not sure I have a problem but would like to increase the Ca reactor Ph a tad and adding more media may help - thanks

Based on a discussion I had with Marc the ph set point for the reactor media I used is around 6.3. I'm using the CRM brand and just need to order another 9 lb container. Thanks for the sugestion, I'll definitly try it when I get some more media added

The tank dkh held all day yesterday at 9.0 :)

Ph swing was 8.02 to 8.20

I'll need to check Ca and Mg but I would think they are running consistant with the dkh. I also should pick up another alk test kit just in case I use this one up over the next couple weeks

I've just been adding additional magnesium every time I do a water change, maybe a cup's worth of it. Mag has been sticking up in the 1400s, which is just fine. Alk and Calcium have been spot on since I started.

Your PH swing appears to be exactly where mine is, the kalk topoff tends to keep it above 8.

Nice Pete. Corals look awesome and I'm glad you got your CA reactor pretty dialed in... In a few months or so I'll probably be joining you... tank is way outpacing the Kalk topoff.... I went a week or so without dosing 2-part or testing and alk dropped to 6.7dkh... thankfully the corals didn't seem to notice, full color and PE the whole time. Its back up to 9 but it's definitely a chore keepin it there :)
