Jay - not sure what the aminos will do but someone suggested them on a thread I posted regarding my red planet looking bad.

I heard of using them but never gave them much consideration. I started doing some research and it would appear the vast majority of the people that use aminos say they see improvement in coral health and colors. I suspect anything can be over done or over rated but decided to give them a try.

That is what I found with Vit C Pete. Since I started dosing it, my acros are growing better with better PE, my zoa shaped up and things really look good. Not sure if the next step down the road with be aminos or another dosing regimen.

But if it makes your tank better, I guess I won't have a choice but to jump on board:lol:

I heard from my CA reactor manufacturer tonight, apparently everything is ready but the regulator is on back order. I was just glad to get an update. I can't wait to get the unit as I need to build a set of shelves for the reactors and a water change tank. I also want to work in a panel for my solenoids and some indicator lights ( I think I mentioned that previously)

thanks Marc - I just got back in, unfortunately I was too busy to ever make it out there, but I'll hope to use the link for other trips. Next week I'm in southern Ga and the following week back to Pensacola. Maybe I'll get out to the beach my next trip.

My long tentacled plate coral died today. Earlier in the week my wife told me it wasn't looking good, yesterday she said most of the tentacles were retracted and today it's completely gone

I have no idea what happened, but I'll check water parameters and send a water sample off to a lab.

The SPS all look great. It's kind of neat to come back home after a few days and notice some nice growth and color enhancements. It may be the fact that I was gone or maybe the aminos kicked in a little

Unfortunately my camera is not really set up for taking pictures of things moving. There isn't enough lens for it. In the pictures above I just got lucky and got a few of the fish as they were sitting still. I was after a few coral shots and as usual I'll try snapping a few fish shots. Generally speaking I just delete the fish shots as 99% of the time they end up being a blur.

Another great round of shots! The frogs look good. Mine have not had the reach that they had 4 years ago in the 450, but the heads on them are doubling faster. Just thinking out loud on how healthy yours look

I wonder if frogs spend early growth efforts in clearing space with long sweepers. Then once they sense they have space dominance they spend efforts growing. Although, I'm sure there is always some of both going on. Makes sense to me.

here is one I haven't shown in a while (but not much happening with it) It does seem to be holding it's purple. It was orange on orange when I got it.

for my camera and fish pictures that's my approach, thank goodness for digital cameras because I couldn't afford the film I would be wasting

here is my battered yellow tang, he snuck in when I was taking a picture of the blob last night. You can see where his dorsal and tail fins are growing back.

Gorgeous efflo Pete. I saw a frag of one that looked very similar at the MMC yesterday, and did snap a quick picture. I don't know if it came out or not, because it was through the surface of the water, flow and reflections be damned.
