Gorgeous efflo Pete. I saw a frag of one that looked very similar at the MMC yesterday, and did snap a quick picture. I don't know if it came out or not, because it was through the surface of the water, flow and reflections be damned.

thanks Marc

The day started out with me concerned for my LPS. After loosing the plae coral I see this today on the Hammer coral

I checked the water parameters and everything is good. Fortunately the hammer was opening up later this evening.

here's another shot of the blob (possibly efflo) from today

I got an email that my Ca reactor and Co2 bottle shipped Friday so they should be here some time early this week. I'm going to send a sample of water off to the lab tomorrow so I have a good reference point pre Ca reactor plus to see if anything I don't measure may b out of wack.

I'm wet skimming for a couple hours then I'm going to do my second dose of aminos.

I'll be out of town all week so won't be able to get the Ca reactor set up until next weekend. I need to build a table for the reactors and need to work on a more permanent design for my electrical and water make up stations for that side of the tank.

I want to work the water change set up with a latching device so I can just flip a switch to start the RO/Di and let it shut off by itself. Then I'll work up a supply from my main pump to flow into the fresh salt mix and over flow the water to the sump. I plan on having a mixing pump in the make up water tank that will serve to drain the tank up into the attic and over to a drain line. The intent is to not have to bucket brigade water any more. I don't have a sink or drain near the tank so I'll need to pump the water up and out about 12' up and maybe 20-30 ft over to a drain.

Last night I pulled my orange zoa rock out and dipped it so see if I had any preditors. I didn't see anything out of the norm, so I cut off the few ricordia on the rock and placed it back in the tank. I also moved a couple sps around to make more room for growth.

The Ora Red Planet is looking much better so I'll have to start considering where to place it with the other two ORA's I got last month.

I was reading up on the Cyphastrea, sounds like it prefers a lower light area so I'll be moving it along with a couple others that don't seem to like the intensity of the 400's.

Here are a couple more shots from today

The Oregon Tort I got from Green Mako

The main chips colony. I rotated it out away from the milles that were starting to shad it.

Nice, give me a call when you start setting it up. I'd really like to learn how to put together and calibrate a CaRx.

Did you get to the additional tank maintenance with your water change this weekend? I cleaned out the skimmer section of my sump, broke my skimmer down and cleaned that too. You were right, there was at least 1/4" layer of detritus in there. It took a 10% water change to empty it all out.

I'm looking forward to your new water change system design.

If I get the regulator, I'll set up the Ca reactor and get it going, but on a slow basis for the first week. But I don't expect the regulator to come in this week so I'll probably just get the shelf built and my make a run to DNA to get the Co2 tank filled. I'll give you a call either way.

I basically just did my weekly stuff, like the water change, cleaned the skimmer, dipped & repositioned some corals, and made up a batch of 2 part.

maybe we can convince Marc to come by if the whole Co2 setup comes in

This having people coming over and helping makes me want to move to DFW;) Too bad a hate large cities filled with people:lol:

Are you familiar with a large city devoid of people?

Hey, our area is so freaking big, you can travel a long time before you encounter these things you call humans. Pete and Anthony have been trying to get me over there for months.

I really need to update my passport. :D

I'd be happy if there was one devoid of traffic :D

Having some free time sitting in a hotel room I decided to label the corals in the actinic picture. I wanted to put some of my other coral pictures into perspective with that area of the tank. Overall my guess is the picture covers and area about 3 ft across by 2 ft tall

I'll have to see this area... The quiz I took the other day told me I should live in Australia.

there are some pretty remote areas in the outback

that reminds me of an RV trip I took. We were heading north from Midland Odessa towards Carlsbad Caverns. Here we are in the middle of no where, when we see a sign that says "historic monument ahead". Wondering what the heck ever happened out here, we had to stop. Sure enough the historical marker claims that the area (maybe county) is the least populated place (per square mile) in the intercontinental United states, or something like that. I guess someone figured we had to know that so we could make it a highlight of our road trip. Boring trivia for some game I guess.

I have that movie.

I figured I was dating(carbon dating) myself:lol:

There were some hot girls in that movie, and I had to buy it. Alas, it is on VHS and thus related to one of my older TVs. :(

haha - leave it to Marc

wasn't that some "b" movie spoof of dawn of the dead, where a bunch of valley girls had to fight off zombies?
