From Daily Herald:
Police were continuing their investigation Friday into why 600 fish were poisoned at a Schaumburg pet store.
According to police, an unknown poison was placed into either a fish tank or filtering system at the Petsmart store, 140 N. Barrington Road, between 7 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday.
Once in the tank or the filtering system, police said, the poison spread to all 127 fish tanks in the store, since they all feed into one another.
Police said the poison killed about 600 freshwater fish, which were valued at $3,000 combined. No specifics on the types of fish were given.
The manager at the Schaumburg store referred all questions to corporate offices in Phoenix, where officials said they had no comment, other than they are cooperating with the police investigation.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Schaumburg Police Department at (847) 882-3534.
