PFO Extension cords anyone?

lol, r-balljunkie... ya it's bad when everyone at Lowes knows you. The good news is I get a lot of help (I've had other customers ask how I got 4 guys to help me out).. hahaha! I guess it's the perks of being a girl in need. ;) I must say they've been very kind and helpful as have everyone on this forum! OMG I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! I don't have a local club unfortunately... heck, we have one LFS that carries some saltwater. The perils of living in the desert. It also makes for a long day when I go scuba diving.... 2 hours minimum to the water but i'm just a mermaid I guess so you can't keep me away.

Thanks for the motivation to keep going! :) Some moments I need it with this project. I'll try and post a couple pics someday when it's totally done.

PowerboatJim - Oh good to know that you did the same without any issues. :) I feel better now!!! I didn't use wire nuts though... I added a HD plug M at one end and the F plug at the other with a HD extension cord that plugs into those to extend it. I will say I'm quite proud it though. ;)

Thanks again! :)

I remember visiting family friends in Apple Valley/Victorville as a kid. nice area of California.

Roy Rogers right?? LOL

2 hours to go diving, your hard core......I'm spoiled, 2 minutes on my bike and I'm in nice 86 degree water every weekend diving. Here are some "I hate you" shots of the local wildlife and scenery :)

back to work for me...uuugh, RC is such a huge distraction

Why is my project turning out to be a nightmare... lol, always a day late and a dollar short.

I just cut and rewired some standard plugs with HD extension cords yesterday. Ughhh, I'd be so bummed if I found out you had the actual PFO extension cord cables. I ran my newly wired by myself lighting yesterday for about 10 min and it seemed to work ok. I didn't burn down the house thankfully but man... sure would have rather done it with the right extension cords though... plus my way is ugly with black cords and big taped up plugs.

Ughhh, don't tell me you have those in stock Jeremy. Do you?

I guess going through multiple defective fluvial G6 filters will drive a girl crazy. Lets hope 3rd ones a charm or I might need a vacation from this upgrade project. Oh.. and my dolphin pump and plumbing was leaking too. Sigh:::: I fix one thing to have 4 more go bad.... I can do this... right?

We do have some left out there, I'm sorry. :(

R-balljunkie - where exactly are you located???? Ohhhhhh, your killing me with jealousy!!! I love underwater photography especially! I love diving but I'm spoiled rotten because although diving California cold water is fun in some ways (kelp forests, marine life, etc.) I hate wearing 7mm suit/hood/gloves/booties and having to wear so much weight which is challenging. I've dove Hawaii, all over the caribbean and just last month in the Bahamas where I did the Stuart Cove careless shark feeing/adventure dive. That was cool! I'd give anything for a little island in the tropics, a hammock and a lime tree (for my beer) ;) Looks like you've got it made!

lol, yes... home of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans... actually I live down the street from the home they occupied here. It's not too bad... a lot busier up here than it used to be. I just love my water too much to live in the desert but it's just where I ended up in life. I'm actually about to start my Divemaster program :D woohoo!

Jeremy!!! Ughhhhh seriously???? I feel like if it weren't for bad luck I wouldn't have any lately. I swear I thought I had called you guys too. Heck, I even called J&J electronics (the original supplier for pfo cords?) and had no luck with them, lol... well, I appreciate it anyways. Next time I need something I'll leave you a message on here. :) Take care!!!

You stated that you are having problems with the Fluval canister filters. Is it possible to just return it and get either store credit or a refund I know Jeremy would love to sell you more equipment that is more suited for saltwater tanks.

lol Moondoggy... are you saying the G6 isn't good for the tank? I'm using it simply for water polishing and media if needed (Oh and it has bio-media which always helps). It has some bells and whistles like a conductivity sensor, performance data, maintenance monitoring and scheduling, etc. Plus above and beyond everything... it's super easy to clean (if I ever get one that works). Literally, you flip a lever, open the lid and pull out the cartridges. If it's complicated or too messy I won't do it often enough probably so thats why I went this route. I also have a refugium also. If there's something better.... please let me know and Jeremy.. any suggestions are welcome!!! :)

. Since you are still in the buying stage and I checked out the Fluval G 6 and it is about 347 bucks. Do you have a skimmer? What else are you buying?

ya... that was the price. I do have a skimmer... a Evolution 750. I also am running a refugium. I've already got 2 x 400 watt MH (i.e.: the need for those PFO extensions but now thats solved), PC's & VHO's (came already installed but not sure I'll use both at same time) and I added led blues for moonlight. My main pump is a Dolphin Amp Master... (used) that one leaked but I do have a 2nd that was rebuilt so I'll put that on and hopefully it will be good. I also have a current brand chiller. Some of the system is pre-owned so i'm just adding a couple things. I already buffed out the acrylic tank (wow, was that ever not fun), modified the canopy to open in the middle with gas shocks on it to help me lift it up for easy maintenance (or can be popped off to open it fully), cut a hole in the wall to run the chiller and some equip. in the room behind it (finished it off nicely).

It's right in the main walkway from the front door and at the living and family rooms so I wanted it to look clean and also keep the noise down. Oh yeah, speaking of that I also installed sound proofing in the cabinet to help deaden the noise.

here's a couple pics but it's totally "in progress" so excuse the mess.

Ohhhh, ya... and it has x10 controllers/timers so I can turn on/off skimmer/pump, for feeding easily. I'm not running a calcium reactor or anything because honestly i've never gotten into stonies. It's something I may expand to further down the road though. Oh, I forgot I also got a JBJ auto top-off. Whew... I think thats it. Hope that wasn't too confusing... I'm too tired to try and fix the mess I just wrote. lol...

niceeeeee...

great looking setup, its photogenic :)

looks like your making great headway, hope to see some fishies in there, soon enough!

c

lol, I hope to see some fishies in there soon too! I'm tackling all the little problems... a little pvc plumbing to do, the nightmare G6 filter if I ever get a good one, and a little more setting up... it'll be ready soon. I have some dr. tims one and only nitrifying bacteria to get it started... plus since I'm moving my 100 gallon to this one (this ones actually 180 gallons once I did the calculator online) hopefully I won't have too bad of a cycle. I only have a memo and a basslet to put in it to start so hopefully with all my live rock (my 100 gallon is stuffed full!) hopefully the cycle won't be too harsh. I don't know because I've never started a new tank myself. Just bought and moved one. lol If you have any suggestions or thoughts feel free to let me know. I don't have anyone to bounce ideas with so this is my only form of "learning" :) (Only 1 LFS and they are horrible!)

Thanks for the pictures Looks like you have your bases covered. I think I saw on a Marine Depot add that the Dolphin pumps have a long warranty on them, I will check my catalog to verify that.

Thanks moondoggy! That would be helpful. I have heard that I can send the pumps in to have them resealed but I figured it'd be at a hefty price. lol
