Can anyone recommend a good PH and Salinity monitors. I've shopped the various sites and it is really hard to tell which one would be a good one. The reviews help but some are conflicting as well. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks! Jim
The PinPoint pH meter gets good reviews. I use an Oakton pHTestr that I like. The exact model I use is not available anymore, but the pHTestr 30 is very similar, if that's still around.
I used the PinPoint salinity meter, and it worked well for me.
I can help out with a pH meter. I don't have a salinity monitor since I use a refractometer.
PinPoint Marine with two point calibration and readings down to 0.00 as opposed to 0.0. Milwaukee also sells a pH monitor that get's good reviews. You need two calibrating solutions also (7 & 10). I bought the adapter for the PinPoint Marine pH monitor, so you can plug it in.
Would this refractometer from Foster and Smith ok? I found the Marine PinPoint for the PH. It does read 3 positions, i.e. 0.00 as was recommended, so I'll pick up that one. I really appreciate the help. Jim
You can buy a cheaper refractometer that works fine when calibrated using a 1.2064 solution. Salt water refractometers wil work as well, but still should be checked with a saltwater standard.
