Hello guys, got my new controller about a week ago and calibrated my new ph probe with solutions 7 and 10, went thru all the steps no problems, and when i set it in my tank i got a reading of 8.3, so i said great, works fine, well every day at the end of each day my ph goes up, lets say on monday at the end of the day it finished at 8.47, the next day it ended at 8.54, the next day at 8.68 and so on, well today came home and it was 9.03, i dont get it, every day it goes up, do i have to calibrate again, is it a module issue, is it the probe, do i need to update the controller, its really strange, could someone please help, is anyone going thru this?, thanks

Sana

First thing I would do is re-calibrate with fresh solution.

If that doesn't solve the problem then eliminate the tank water. Put some tank water in a cup, put the probe in the cup monitor it for 24 hours and see if the problem continues.

BTW, pH will naturally rise during the day and fall at night. Not to the degree you're seeing but there is a rise/fall of pH each day.

I do understand that ph lowers and rises during the day, my concern was how high it gets, like right now at 8 am in the morning my reading is 8.62, and i know that by the end of the day it will be like 9 something, will do a recalibration to see if that helps, thanks

Well recalibrated with fresh ph solutions, now it reads 7.86 and it has stayed there for the most part of the morning, lets see what happens

Are you dosing alk in your tank? If so that maybe your cause for high PH or do you smoke in your house? That will also cause the PH to raise up, the smoke is absorbed by the water and turns acidic in the water causing the ph to rise.

Acidic? I tought when water is acidic the PH lowers, its been a day now and the ph in the tank started yesteday morning at 7.86 and at the end of the day yesterday it went up to 8.21 and this morning 7.86, well see how it goes, not worried at all about the ph swings, i am worried more about the accuracy of the ph probe-controller, thanks for helping guys

You are correct. Lower pH is more acidic and/or has a lower oxygen content.

Oxygen content has nothing to do with pH. CO2 concentrations can drive pH with higher CO2 leading to lower pH. But the oxygen content has no effect whatsoever. High CO2 does not imply low oxygen nor vice versa.

Yup, I mispoke. It is a Co2 reading (sort of speak) rather than Oxygen. Thank you for correcting me.
