So, I ran across something new (for me) today. An entirely yellow tang labeled as a "Philippine Yellow Tang." It's body morphology seems more Acanthurus than Zebrasoma.

Online research lists a Philippine Yellow Tang as everything from normal yellow (Zebrasoma flavescens) to juvenile Orange Shoulder Tang (Acanthurus olivaceus) to juvenile Chocolate Tang (Acanthurus pyroferus).

Sorry for my terrible cell-phone photo skills, but these are the best I could get.

Any ID thoughts? And FWIW, the fish really is completely yellow, unlike my shadowed pictures.

That looks like a mimic lemon peel tang?

yeah, possible - that's another name for a Chocolate Tang (Acanthurus pyroferus). It's just most of the pictures I see of those juveniles have some sort of markings on the gills - this one doesn't.

Maybe it’s in transition stage to adult and the blue marking on the gills faded out?
Or perhaps there is a new species or hybrid yellow tang?
