Philip's 11gal Nano

Great work on everything, although I'm not a huge fan of the locline. It looks like its taking up 1/3 of the tank. You did such a seamless and stunning job on all the other aspects of design that its a shame to have such a jarring intrusion of piping. A simple 45 degree elbow in place of the split locline would look much better imo. Its really pretty easy to get great flow in a very small tank with just a couple of sources.

Very nice bro!
The only thing I personally don't like is the stain. You did a great job with it, but the white tank and the hardware seems to be to modern for the stand. I think it would have looked killer with a clean lines Elos type stand.
But you've done a great job with everything.

I took out a link on the inside ones on both and it looks good with the sand in there (they look a lot smaller).

i love how its white! and i especially love how you mounted the power strip on the side

Thank you!

I wanted it to fit inside of a family room so I stained it. I have a 60gal like this in a metal stand covered in acrylic and it really has a stream line look to it and thank you!

is the tank 12x12x18?

i agree with the locline being a distraction to the eye.

everything else looks very sweet. wish i had that type of woodworking skills.

Sorry it has been so long since I've been on the site, but here are the answers to the unanswered questions:

Any updates? How do you like the Eheim Compact? Did it end up providing enough flow w/o having to use powerheads?

Love the ehiem and gives a great steady flow with no problems at all and can I say it is so quiet I don't even know its there!

Won't your entire display drain to your sump if/when the power goes out? Just curious.

xoxo

No it won't. I have on the return pipe going back to the tank a one way valve that work amazing and I test it once a month and stay on top of it!

I like the locline there because it can't create shadows on the rock and don't have to worry about getting it them, because coral has grown around them.

Thank you for the kind words and if you work hard it's not hard. Just lots of time and paitents!

Philip, quite the tank you have going on. Love the stand and stain you put on it. Look forward to seeing what it looks like when it all comes together. I will follow along.

Thank you for all the kind words. I had taken a break on this tank and it has been sitting around. I am thinking of the way I want to attach the light fixture to the stand and keep its slimline look. I am also putting a baffle in the sump to take care of all the micro bubbles coming from the Deltec protein skimmer.

Then I'm adding the salt water!

Okay, for a current update. I put a temporary baffle in the sump with just good ole silicone for now. I want to test out different locations inside the sump, and different size baffles to tune it just right so I don't get micro bubbles in the main tank from the skimmer. I will have pics of the sump in place and hopefully in action (doing it's job).

I will take photos of my light for the tank and see if anyone can give me any ideas on a sleek way to hang it. I don't want it attached to the wall or ceiling. It will be attached to the stand in some fashion but I don't want to take away from my hard work!

Wow, liking the build..... Those look like some beefy bulkheads you got there for the returns. I would of done the returns on the top instead, but that's just my .02cents.

Thank you! they were the smallest I could use. I liked the look and I want the whole tank to be self contained inside the stand so them being on the back would not allow that.

nice looking build, interesting concept. ill be looking at this one!

Thanks! I will be uploading pictures of the light soon. I have saltwater in the tank and have it running, I have also put some old tank water from my 210 inside the tank!

Hello again,

Here are some updated photos of the tanks current running state! I haven't done anything with lighting but decided to get the tank up and running! And sorry in advance for the low quality phone pictures... I figured they were better than nothing...

I have gotten most of the kinks worked out, minus a few. I also need to install my PhosBan Reactor, which I will be using for active carbon!

Now for what you have all been waiting for:

Enjoy :D

I haven't figured out how to hang my Giesemann Nova II fixture yet...

I have thought of a few really good ideas but haven't come up with an idea I like. If you have any suggestions please let me know!

The fixture is a 150w HQI metal halide which I want to hang pretty high off the tank and I think it will look great!

Here are some photos of the fixture:

And like always, please tell me your thoughts!

Enjoy!

I noticed you had metal clamps around the return hose. I highly suggest removing those or they are going to leach chemicals.
