Philip's 11gal Nano

Hey everyone,

I am quite new to this part of the RC forums, but I have been knownto be looking through the threads every once in a while. I have had a 5.5, 29 and a 30 as far as nanos go, but this is the first one that is going high tech to match my 210 gal.

This time I have started from complete scratch with a sheet or acrylic and some lumber! I am glueing up the tank as we speak and the stand is 75% complete!

The Equipment:
Giesemann Reflexx T5
Deltec MCE300 Skimmer
Two Little Fishies PhosBan Reactor 150
Hydor ETH In-Line Heater 200 watt 5/8"
Tunze Temp Controller
Tunze pH Controller
Eheim Compact Plus Pump 2000 - Return
Eheim Compact Pump 300 - feeds the reactor

My questions are:
1)What are your thoughts on the Hydor Heater?
2)Do you think a Eheim Compact Plus 2000 will give me plenty of current without using any powerheads?
3)What UV Sterilizer would you use? I want it to be able to fit inside the stand which is 12"x12"x34" tall (inside dimentions)

Also if you have any suggestions for me let me know.

Okay as requested some pictures!

Here is the tank I just finished routing it literally 5 minutes ago. I hope you like it and the stand pictures will follow shortly!

And here are pictures of the stand, I still need to hang the door and get the trim on it. Hopefully I can get the done tomorrow!

Did you use the white acrylic so you can go barebottom? It looks like a very clean build so far.

Honestly I did it just for a cool look and it is ABS which is cheaper than acrylic and has that nice textured feel. Never thought about doing a barebottom  now I have another decision to make :lolspin:

I like the white look. I have always thought about painting the back of my tank white.
Personally I would have painted the stand white or maybe blue to keep the "clean" look.

Now you have me me thinking! Being in the house all day, reading this and looking at the tank has me thinking about doing a white acrylic stand for this one. Well I have plenty of time to think about a design! I am thinking built in sump!

Okay so I got a little bored today and was wondering what you guys thought about my idea.

My idea is so I can attach live rock all the way up the overflow to hide it and have it suspended above the bottom and fill it with sand which will create a great place for a shrimp and goby pair!

I really like that idea to have the LR hide the overflow, I say keep it if you're definitely going to have a sandy bottom.

Thank you everyone for the compliments! I will be getting the door hung and putting trim on the stand today. I will update everyone when I can with the pictures you guys want!

Also I think I am going to add the following to the tank equipment:
Peltech Ocean Geotronic 150

I have also figured out my stocklist for this tank which will be the following:
1 Rolland's Damsel
1 Helfrichi Firefish
Yasha Goby Pair w/Pistol Shrimp
3 Sexy Shrimp

Okay, it isn't quite done but I decided to update everyone on where it is as of tonight. I will stain the other pieces of trim and start working on the sump design tomorrow!

Enjoy!

Okay I have the tank all finished and I want feedback on it. I think I should of recessed the handle another 1/2" and I think I am going to fix that. Other than that, any suggestions?
