Phils new tank

I am thinking of putting my 2 urchins in the tank to help with the algae that I am starting to get. I took a snail out of the daughters tank and put in the new tank, and I think it died already.

Thats not funny Josh..... Not at all.....LOL

I think it was the temp shock. I don't have a heater on the big tank and the temp has been fine, but the 10g is warmer. All the coral looks great, and the chromis is fine. I even saw a bristle worm tonight looking for food.

Yea need to get a heater on it. It could move 15 degrees or better without a heater. No sense doing it half ackwards already. Slow down on your stock too. a little at a time or you are going

I have a heater on the way now, and I have a hair algae bloom. My temp is ranging from around 77 to 80 from day and night according to the floating therm.

All corals are looking fairly well, my ORA green digi is looking a little on the pale side, but not bad.

I did a water test today when I got home from work, and was pretty pleased with the results. My Nitrate was between 5 and 10, all others at 0. My DKH was at 8.2, and my calcium was at 300. Ca a little on the low side, so I am dosing that to get it up to around 400 or so.

You running GFO? I would throw some in just incase your rocks are letting something off from "cooking" in the can. Better to be on the safe side.

I am running some in my reactor, but I am sure it needs replaced. I was going to run over to Coral Reef this weekend and pick some up.

Which of the 2 would be best to help with algae.... long spine or short spine urchin? I have both in the 10g and need a little help with the HA that I have.

I have a short spine green one in my fuge that doesn't touch the algae, go figure. Maybe getting an algae blenny may help or a tang of some sort.

I would no put an urchin in a reef tank at all. The long spines are just too big and the short spines pick up your corals to help them blend in.

Long spine I agree with, the short spine I have is a rock borer I believe and doesn't pick up coral, but does knock it over from time to time.

Going to load up the rest of the coral tonight out of the daughters tank I hope. Tank is looking better, and can't wait to see it with new bulbs.

sounds like it is coming together fine. Need you to upload some pics though....fts

Alright, i will post some new pics here soon, i swear.. I had to tear apart the tank tonight to get a wrasse out that was not a reef freindly fish... pain in the arse..

Redid the rock, the coral placement, and finally fixed the fans on the canopy. Now I need to finish the plumbing and be done

so I want to start dosing vodka, and have read that I need to dose micro bac with it, anywhere local I can get the bacteria that is good, or is this an order online item?

soon. Had a rough nite. I smoked the transmission in the wife's car tonight.... grrrrr. My luck sucks so bad right now
