what do i do w/ the first batch of phosban media? do i just throw it out and start new? i set up my reactor about two weeks ago and its time to replace the media.

also, i have a little algae bloom in the chamber, should i just clean the whole reactor, then put the media in?

Yep, clean out the chamber with a clean paper towel and replace the media with new media and run it thru clean water for a bit to wash out the dust particles... As for the algae bloom, is it getting light on it from somewhere? Also, is your media "rippling" indicating a decent flow thru the media column? might need to bump it up a notch otherwise simply blocking the light from reaching the reactor media by wrapping the tube in opaque paper may also solve your algae concern... :)

Wow, 2 weeks and replacing it already!?
You must have super high concentration of phosphates in your system, ey?
I use Rowaphos & usually it will last me 4 - 6 months! You might want to perform a water change to get your levels in check.
