Nothing from the 110 according to the ins company :D I can still use the small wetdry/skimmer&pump and the two lum3 reflectors I was using till the 280 needed them. Other than that its all trashed if you ask me. I have some ballast that went under water for a while but I dont know if that would be safe to run.

I did finally get to go see if my car was flooded at the body shop it was at during the storm. This area of town got like 5-6'....and the verdict is its NOT flooded :( The mean ol bodyshop man parked all the cars on his roof top parking lot! I found a pic of it too with all the water around. You can kinda see my car by the yellow arrow. Now who knows how long it will take to get it down from there. Why couldnt he have just put it on the ground

hey good to hear from you :D

how did you fid that picture? did they photograph the entire city for you guys?

if your in a rush maybe you can borrow one of those big army helicopters and rescue your car :)

I found it on the net...they have just a bunch of random shots from satellites....that and I went there and saw where the car was so I was able to find it. I dont want to rescue it...if I lift it with a helicopter I will drop it to the ground

re..

ok good news bad new....

Good news is the tank is finally on the stand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had 5 people on it and boy that sucker is heavy just to lift on to the stand. The fit is perfect and it looks so darn sexy up there.

Here are some pics

Now for the bad news. It looks like this tank is not going to see water for a very long time. Its looking like I might be moving in the next year or two. So I am plagued with the decision....should I set it up knowing how soon I will be tearing it down and moving it or just leave it empty for now. I am fearing it will be empty :( Even if that happens I will continue getting all the parts and filtration squared away. I don't know.....I am very excited to have it on the stand finally!

sweet, let me be the first to say congratulations :D

how about you get all the equipment together and set it up.
then fill it with water to see how everything works.
then keep the water in there and get some rock to just fill it up,
you know. then put a few fish in the tank. I'd say by the time this happens
it will be a year or so, and then you'll be ready to move. the tank will be ready
and all dialed in with the kinks worked out. sounds like a plan :)

There is still quite a few things I would have to do to get it running. Keep in mind im still a few weeks from even being back in nola for good. My plan also was to run the pumps through the wall...lot of mess for a short time. Once I know for sure how long I will be here then I can make my decision. Heck moving may fall through who knows at this point. Dont get me wrong I really really want to set it up...but I know moving the tank alone will be hard...much less alllll that water rock and sand. On top of all that I dont know where I will be moving...what if I end up renting something while a house is being built but my nola house is sold...know what I mean.

Thing looks tight tho on its stand :bounce1:

okay tell you what, ship the whole thing up north and I'll take care of it for you till you move ;) :D

I'll even post pics of it for you. with water in it. :P

Why not run the pumps under the tank through the stand for now, since you may be moving one day? You can buy LR and livestock as you like, and if you do end up moving, someone will buy that from you.

Then at your new location, either store it or set it up. Drill holes in the floor, the walls, the ceiling... whatever you like. But no more of this "maybe 2 more years until it gets water"-talk.

If there is even a slight possibility of you moving, I would personally wait to set it up. I don't think there is anything worse than moving a "living" tank; for the tank or the mover.

You will without a doubt, put animals in the tank you don't want to lose and moving them is risky and stressful, especially if your moving more than across town.

I would just keep buying the equipment and keep putting together what you can. For example, you probably would have put water in the tank before finishing the wood on the stand and canopy. Go ahead and get that done.

One day, even if it is a year or two down the road, you will have a tank that is COMPLETELY finished and then you can fully enjoy playing with it's inhabitants.

That's just my two cents but then again, I have become overly patient in the past few years dealing with my SPS tank.

Good luck and glad to hear your doing well.

You know, I've always heard that an empty tank usually ends up with the silicone seals drying out and becoming brittle. You don't want that to happen, do you Nolacls?

You want to fill the tank. - waving hand and using Jedi mind control

I agree with Marc... at least get this thing running with some fish and LR. Just get enough water movement in the tank and some rock. You dont need extravagent lighting, pumps, reactors, etc for that. You will not have to move any livestock when/if you move in 2 years just sell the rock and fish to friends in local reef clubs. Two years is a long time!!! I cant believe that you would wait that long or longer before you get this thing running!

Man I'm glad to see this post. I hadn't seen anything recently, glad to see things are starting to get back to normal for you. I know you still have a ways to go, but I'm happy to see you posting again. I'm in the same situation with you, I'll probably move in the next year or so, but I can't stare at that empty tank in my living room any longer!! I say fill er up!!!!!!!!
