photocell question

Roger,

I recently added the 6000/7091 and photocell to my aquarium. The tank has never been happier.

However, I have a question about the photosensor's sensitivity. When I have the sensor plugged into the 7091, it shifts the controller into night mode unless I place the receptor directly under a 175w MH bulb. In other words, I need a ton of light to keep the pump going in pulse mode. Is this typical or might I have a faulty photocell?

I can tell you they don't respond to the light we have in the warehouse here, which is twin 48" flourescents about 16ft overhead spaced about 8ft apart each way. They have always worked on my aquarium lights though and I have used T-5's and 150w HQI. I think so long as it is switching it is working as it should.
