phyto and zooplankton questions

I was just wondering what type of phyto and zooplankton is used in the bottles i buy at my lfs. I am able to get live chaetocerous, t-iso, 3m, and a couple other types of algae for free and am wondering if my stoneys and zoo;s will be able to eat the algae. any help would be much appreciated.

Not to get into a whole thesis about phytoplankton, but most corals will not eat phytoplankton. They are carnivores and need to be fed zooplankton. Zoas are supposed to mostly eat bacteria. Just about the only things that would eat phytoplankton are clams, gorgonians, featherdusters and copeopods/anthropods/zooplankton.

Check out the literature put out by DT's phytoplankton.
Surprising reading....

Which stoneys do you have?
None of the mine is eating microalgae - they prefer the mouth-sized pieces of the grocery shrimp or fish, or even better - mysis or Ocean Plankton, frozen cubes from LFS.

I used for a short time for a small-mouthes softies the dead bottled Kent MicroVert, PhytoPlex, ZooPlex, then switched to the dried Cyclop eeze (looks similar to the ZooPlex), frozen Cyclops and Rotifers. Not for stonies, again.

Kent's ZooMax should have higher concentration, than ZooPlex.
