Hey guys, I just saw this derasa and was hoping you could tell me what you think of it, how does it look? It is about 3 inches.

Thanks in advance!

thats kinda what I was trying to figure out for a friend, it does look a bit unhappy to me, but I wasent sure, she says thats as far as it usually opens, is this ok?

Here was my Derasa when it was only about 3" when I first added it to my tank. It took a day or two for the mantle to fully extend:

Here it is after about a year:

I need to take another photo as it's almost doubled in size again since the last photo was taken almost a year ago.

mike89t, could you post a top down pic of your clam?

does the mantle still look curled up like that?

Yeah I need to take a top down photo of it. Just haven't had the time. It still curls up when the current from the powerheads hit it.

It will not open much if you have a lot of water movement on it. Also, the pic looks a little bit dark, what kind of light fo you have it under?

Well I've never tried a top down and I had to try and move the clam so that it wasn't under the center brace. That caused it to close up a little. Wasn't able to get a good top down though:

Here is the ugly top down after I moved it and had to use the camera flash for enough light. The mantle was really retracted after I moved it but I didn't have time to wait for it to open back up.
